ok we were called about the middle of september about installing a fire rated steel door for local nursing home. When i talked to the guy on day one i told him we did not do anywork on credit that full payment would be due on completion. he says ok let me check and go ahead and give me your price.
I priced the special order door, custom made and sized oddly, figured in my labor costs and a small profit. turned in my estimate, at which point he looked over my paper work, and asked if there was anyway to drop the price by 50 dollars because he already knew that the administrator had approved 600 for the job.
ok i re figured, and by dropping the profit, and mark up on the door.. was able to drop to 600, he called back about three days later and said to go ahead and ortder the door, again i asked about payment, and he said that once the door came in i could turn in my invoice and they could go ahead and get it in the works so our check would be in by time we did the work. we turned in the invoice, and no one said anything at that point to us about how long it would take to get the check.
anyway we waited about three weeks and installed the door took that long to get it schedualled. about 15 minutes before we finished up i asked the adminstrator about my check,, again to this point it was sposed to be there waiting on me.. shetells me oh we havent got it here, it has to come from corporate, and i have to turn in the invoice. Supposededly she had told the maintenance super all this, but according to him she sprung it on him that day as well. ok i can wait a week or so, no bbiggy, according to her t hat day it would take about a week since this was my first time working for this company, so i wait
meanwhile this 400 dollar door is on my charge account that has a 500 dollar limit, no biggy it'll get payed off next few days,, a week goes b y and no check. on monday of week 2 this lady has the nerve to call and ask if we can install another one of these doors for her.. i told her no not until i get payed from the first one anyway,, so i ask the maintenance guy to check it out for me, he says the admin told him that she called corperate and they said the check had been mailed. ok i called her today 2 weeks to th e day after she told me 1 week at the most. she tells me oh let me check weith corporate and i'll call you right back,, she calls in 15 min.. they say they have to have you fill out a tax form because you havent ever worked here before now. Hello thats what we discussed prior to my ordering the door, availability of funding was discussed and here it is 2 wseeks later and i still have no check. my account is locked out because of this , my customers are having to wait on me to get payed to be able to buy materials or else i'll have to get an advance from them to be able to work. I'm calling corperate in the morning a nd filing a complaint, then turning around and filing bbb complaint too. there is no reason unless they have already exhausted the other local carpenters to do this kind of bussiness. If its goingto take a month to get payed, tell me up front so i can get arrangements made to cover my expenses ahead of time dont lie to me about why i am not recieveing my money. am considering writinbg a letter to the editor about it, but i figure when you compare advertising budgets local paper will not print it
ok vent over. i'm still upset, not a happy camper and really aggravated by this companies misrepresentation of the way i would be payed.
