Hi there,

I'm holding out until later in the year to see if the free dining plan becomes available again before I book my trip for next year and if it does then I will need to book flights only.

As I have Tesco vouchers to use I was wondering if anyone had used the Tesco Clubcard Air Miles deal and was wondering how it works.

I currently only have 2040 in airmiles but wondered if I could just use those against the total needed and pay then just pay the difference, this will hopefully take a couple of hundred pounds off and then the vouchers won't go to waste.

I've had a look on the air miles website and put in the dates needed etc and this is what I found:

Virgin: 1125 miles plus £235.50 per adult and £220.87 per child and £603.60 in taxes, making a total of £1516.34 plus my 2000 miles.

BA: 1000 miles plus £224 per adult and £209.24 per child and £454.70 in taxes, making a total of £1321.18 plus my 2000 miles.

I just checked the Virgin website for the same dates and they come in at £1540.20 in total, the BA website comes in at £1579.60.

Suddenly the Air Miles doesn't look like such a good deal having seen these prices :sad2:

Hi there,

As I have Tesco vouchers to use I was wondering if anyone had used the Tesco Clubcard Air Miles deal and was wondering how it works.

We would love to know as well. We tend to get quite a lot of vouchers and if it was a good deal would seriously consider it.

Airmiles used to be a great deal, but with so much of the fare nowadays consisting of tax and charges, it no longer represent good value. For us, it can take around two years to save 3000 "miles" and then we find that this would give around £50 off the cost of the flight. Hardly worth it, and better prices are usually available elsewhere on the web.

We always use ours to book the Sofitel at Gatwick, and generally speaking are able to collect enough miles in between trips to book it for free - around 2000miles.

Not sure whether it is a superb use of the miles/points, but suits us very well. If we had to pay £100+ to stay at the hotel I am not sure we would ever bother, but getting it for "free" is a lot better:thumbsup2
