Terrorism Drill here in NYC

There are about 20 cops cars lined up our street (34th) and tons of cops. We asked what was going on and they said terrorism drill...I'm assuming they are preparing for the GOP Convention...it's a bit disconcerting though.

I worked in that area years ago (11 Penn Plaza, to be exact). I remember the '92 democratic convention. No terrorism drills then, not even that many street closures. How things have changed

We had a couple different drills in our little city here recently. Nothing like seeing a pack of police officers in blue bio-hazard suits running around in front of an elementary school. I'm sure those people who didn't know WHAT was really going on were a bit concerned.

they did drills at Shea and at Battery Park a few months ago.

yesterday I saw lots of police vehicles on water Street, lights on , driving north towards City Hall. I assumed there were VIP's in transit, but perhaps it was a drill. who knows anymore?

They have been doing drills a lot around the Wall St. area. It doesn't seem to bother me anymore. I used to feel nervous, but at least these guys are getting the training in case anything does happen.

We haven't had any extra drills in the Rockefeller Center area lately, but just wanted to say I know how disconcerting it can feel. Sending extra special happy thoughts to wipe away these troublesome ones.

PS - Are you working during the convention? I, and most of my office has put in for vacation then due to reports we've had from directlry from our building management on the subway stoppages and road closures expected during this time.

I'm glad they are doing the drills...I wish they'd do them here...maybe they do but I never see or hear about them. we've got some major events happening in the coming months...Dem and Rep conventions, elections.

My brother works for the V.A. Hospitals in Ca. Heightened security was issued with no update on threats.
