Terrible accident on the Prince Charmig Carrousel

What if the person taking the photos was no ordinary Joe, but someone working for Disney(in plain clothes)that was taking photos to document for Disney purposes.

I have heard they have many ppl in the parks like this. For many different secret jobs. You could be right.

Oh my, I had no idea that PI attorneys were really social workers who's only goal in life was to make it better for their poor innocent victim clients. Not.
There's two sides to every potential lawsuit and all too often people are injured by their own irresponsibility or are motivated by greed to embellish their 'damages.'
I just know that if I or someone I cared about was injured in a public place I would not want anyone filming the after math while I/they were awaiting medical aid. Presumably video surveillance would provide any necessary 'evidence' without the need to ferret out the video of some lookyloo yahoo's cell phone. Indeed if the filmer was part of the injured person's party I'd immediately suspect a staged incident for $.
Seriously, I hope the child is ok.
Ha! As a social worker, I can say there is a huge disparity in income!

That the child fell?? How will that help anything? And Disney has cameras everywhere...

Do you know who took the pictures? Could they have been related? Could they have been a plain-clothed Security CM?

In general, people sure like to speculate and put others in their place without facts. Truth is, 99% of the people on this board have no idea what really happened and the 1% who might would lose their job if they spoke about it.

Robo, is it necessary to be so grumpy and short with other posters?

You’ve helped out countless on this board, myself included, but more and more often your responses are more combatitive and annoyed than helpful.

Maybe it’s time to take a break.

This is why the ignore feature on this message board is fantastic!! :)

And although we don't know the age of the child that fell, if the child was a youngster, where the heck were the parents???? I remember when my kids were younger, we would stand next to them every time they were on a carousel (maybe Disney doesn't allow this? But, Disney is normally pretty good about safety rules and regulations such as age, height, etc..). Instead of putting blame on Disney or trying to figure out if it was Colonel Mustard with the camera, maybe we should start discussing the parents...

Agreed.

As you said, we don’t know how old the “child” (the OP herself said she thought a child) was, but every time I’ve ridden it, they have made it clear that small children should be on an inside horse and should not be left.

Even though I am an adult and will go for an outer horse, I mount and dismount on the inside side of the horse rather than the outside.

So, without having any idea what really happened, you’re discussing blaming the parents?

You don’t even know who was on the carousel with the child. Grandma? Grandpa? Sister? Brother? Friend? Child old enough to ride alone? Or if it even was a child!

Was mom or dad or whomever taking more than one child on the ride? It’s tough when you’re outnumbered by small kids. Did a kid not listen and try to get off while the adult was helping another child? Did the person slip getting off the horse? Did mom or dad or whomever accidentally let go of the child?

Point is, nobody knows so no one should even bother discussing whose fault it was because there are exactly zero facts.

IDK about plainclothes photographers.

I was in the MK in September and walking next to someone who wiped out hard! I mean, she went down like a ton of bricks and was bleeding like crazy and couldn’t move afterward. It was a terrifying thing to witness, and I didn’t see anybody photographing her.

Nobody interviewed me, but I don’t doubt that there is a lot of video surveillance everywhere in WDW and that they can freeze frame and create photos that way.

Why not? Seems like everybody is discussing someone, so why not the parents (or the Grandma, Grandpa, Sister, Brother, Professor Plum...). This is like a mystery...we need more Clues!!!!

Yes, we did that, too.

At a small local church carnival one year, the carousel we were on suddenly stopped. I fell, along with a few other parents who were standing. Luckily, my child and the other children stayed on the horse.

Maybe the parent was riding an adjacent horse. That is OK too. Sometimes accidents happen. Can’t be everywhere at once. Nobody is a super parent for standing next to a carousel horse.

And by age 5, I was not on the carousel, but instead eating a fried dough and waving from the sidelines. All the kids survived!

Whoa whoa, pump the brakes there otter! Colonel Mustard is a decorated military man :snooty:. Sabotaging children on carousels is beneath his dignity :)
I'm betting it was more likely a misstep and gravity as to why the kid fell. As for why the bystander took the picture :confused3 who knows. In this day and age there's like a billion pictures taken every day. People are everywhere with their phones at the ready. Right or wrong for many of them it's a normal reaction to start recording when remarkable things happen.

Why does it matter whether it's $100k a year or a one time payment of $10k? If someone broke the law and injured you, why shouldn't you recover your damages?

Most of the time it’s rider error - kids trying to get off too soon or stand up, but I guarantee you the parents will be approached by tons of attorneys seeing a cash cow like Disney. It’s sad.

Hmm... I think Col. Mustard's mustache is suspicious. What's he hiding under there?

He may be an officer, but I don't think he's a gentleman!

Also, for the record, while I likely wouldn't think to take photos myself, I really don't like calling people I don't know, whose motives or credentials are unknown to me, "disgusting".

Even Col. Mustard is just dodgy, not disgusting.

I agree, Mustard is a scoundrel. But I think the carousel incident would be too lowbrow for him. Sabotaging kids seems more like a Count Olaf or Bowler Hat Guy kind of move to me. :drinking:

Am I the only one that thinks this discussion is Much ado about nothing?

Dan

OP, I get your intent in posting this. But it always surprises me when people don't understand the risks of getting on any moving attraction. Especially one that is visibly easy to fall off of. You should always be careful no matter what you're riding, even the carousel of progress. There is always a risk of injury when riding anything!

And notice how all the assumptions line up with their opinions.
