DH and I are WDW vets, but we have our first West coast trip planned for August.

I walk with forearm crutches and use a wheelchair for distance. I self propel a lot at the World with DH helping as needed (hello, monorail ramps!).

What is the terrain like in the CA parks compared to FL? I'm just trying to figure out if DH is going to end up pushing or if I should be able to manage myself.

TIA!

THe park itself is flat with a few exceptions. There is nothing as bad as those monorail ramps in WDW! The walkway up to BTMRR has a decent hill. There are some rides where the entrance/exit has a pretty good slope. The Indianna Jones exit (that you will use for both the entrance and exit) is quite a good slope. One of the rides in tomorrowland has a pretty long slope (although not horribly steep) but for the life of me I can't remember which one. At DCA Paradise Pier has a decent hill if you enter on the side with CA Screamin. RSR has a decent sized slope. Just a warning that your DH may have to push simply because it is so dang crowded that you can't manuever. Especially in DL, the walkways just aren't very wide. I really advise getting there at opening each day. Especially in a chair, you literally will not be able to see where you are going if you are not rolling in until 2 oclock each day. Also, read up on ride entry procedure. Many of the rides in DL do not have accessible lines. Generally you enter through the exit but the exits can be hard to find at times and some rides you will get a return time, others you just enter, others you use the fastpass line.

There's also a bridge or overpass that goes over the entrance to POTC in NOS. Avoid that if at all possible. We found the terrain was a lot hillier than we expected.
