Terms that annoy you

OK, it's not one that many have heard frequently, but I hear it at work EVERY DAY I sub in the kitchen- two different women say it "just a titch"- I HATE the word 'titch' it drives me NUTS and they sound totally uneducated when they say it! It sounds like a made up word (titch)...I know it's not, but it's the dumbest word I've ever heard!

It has to be one of the most overused words on T.V. .

The one I laugh at being overused is entertaining. I love the HGTV shows like House hunters and property virgins. I have NEVER seen an episode where entertaining was not used. As in good for entertaining..... Not much space for entertaining...... I always looked for a house to fit my family. I didn't worry too much about the invited guests. :)

I can understand its use in context or for dramatic effect in a song or movie but to use it in normal conversation just makes one sound uneducated.

Okay, I admit to HATING the songs "Ain't No Mountain High Enough" and "Can't Get No Satisfaction" because of the bad grammar and I was in elementary school when they were out!! :lmao:

In fairness, the actual lyrics to the Rolling Stones' song are grammatically correct: "I can't get no satis - " oh, wait. No, they're not. But at least it's a complete sentence, including the subject missing from the title :teeth:

I keep thinking of more and more!

"Healthful"

Why not healthy? Healthful is so clunky!

Not much space for entertaining.

my son and i hate that who cares about entertaining, you don't entertain 360 days of the year...., your family lives there, and who cares what you friends think..

ITA! That drives me nuts too! :headache:

LOL! We laugh at that, too. And every room has "a lot of light" & does everyone really need an office? As in "this room would work good for an office!" Happens in every episode! :rotfl:

Some other annoying phrases are things I read, only related to celebrities: "ultra" & "over the moon". I don't know anyone who uses those phrases IRL. :confused3

I hate the fact that "Baby Daddy/ Baby Momma" is becoming so mainstream. Its such a ghetto-fabulous term and I can't stand it. Its like YUCK to my ears. When I hear it I immediately think lowly of the person saying it.

I can't stand when people say "or lackthereof". JUST SAY LACK OF!!!
:lmao:

Heigth...yes you read that right. The word HEIGHT but pronounced with a "TH" at the end instead of a hard "T". I hear it all the time down here and I just want to start punching people when I hear it.

The one that drives me crazy is "ridonculous" for the word ridiculous. I also do not like Yeppers. Can't you just say yes?

Another I can't stand, "Epic Fail".

That was a tech meme that got thrown into the mainstream and, like most tech in the mainstream, got completely misused and/or over used.

Luckily it has already been replaced, and by an image:

"It's not fair"

It's bad enough coming from my children ~ but I'm hearing it more and more from so called adults. I just want to ask "How old are you?":headache:

"Who you tellin?"

That is what the lady at the post office said yesterday not really as a question but as a comment similar to saying "I know that's right"

And when someone says something is "mines". I have a good friend who says that a lot and I think she might actually think that is the correct word.
