Hi everyone. New here...

We're flying from Halifax to Orlando next month on Air Canada (points--can't believe we got it!). We have to switch from Terminal 1 to T2, we've got about 2 hours to connect. Are the dining options in T2 any better than T1? Came through T1 last in Aug last year with my then 2 yo dd, and finding something to eat was a nightmare--counter service (awkward alone with a little one), expensive, unhealthy...really missed the "street pricing"/familiar options at YVR and YHZ. Dh will be with me this time, so counter service is ok, but I want to avoid the counter-service place I ate at in T1 last time!

2, 2.5 hr flts on AC and neither has any served food; the a la carte in flight is not a good option, IMO. We'll be carrying stuff, I guess, but something fresh and not-squished at that point would probably be good! Any tips for navigating/eating/gettign through customs/in general making life easy, very welcome!

Thanks.

JoAnne, dh, ds (5) and dd (3) in Nova Scotia.

I do not have much experience with T1 or 2 but from the sounds of your experience with T1 - you are looking at the same or worse in T2.

We had to pick up my DH parents at T2 last month and I could not believe how little there was in there. It looked like a vacant building IMO.

Terminal 3 is the only terminal that has numerous food choices.

I woud not stop in terminal 1 as 2 hrs is not a lot of time to change terminals and go through customs, I would not stop untill you clear Customs .last feb on our way from YFC to DL DW & I took over 1 hr to change terminals and clear customs ( No Kids ) . There are ony a couple of places to eat in T2 all expensive .

To go through customs have all dock's ready and out( ID & Boarding pass) .Have the full address for the first hotel you are staying at ( US customs will ask).
:disrocks:

As of last December AC had international flights out of T2 and had moved the domestic flights into the new T1 Once you have cleared security there are very few options. We just grabbed something at the counter service. Not much better than fast food. There was a location where it looked like it had table service but was more of a bar atmosphere. We did not venture in as we were afraid to even look at the prices. It was also, 7am. Do not expect any improvements as once the international flights move into the new T1, T2 will be raised to make room for more T1 gates.

There is a Greek restaurant called Zet's right on the Airport strip. I highly reccommend it- good food, prices good. The only downfall is you might have to cab it there and back. Some of the meals are amazing though.

Thanks for the recommendations and information, everyone.

Looks like we'll carry an icepack and pick up sandwiches at the Tim Horton's near the check ins in Halifax.

We used to live in Brampton; I only wish we had time to go off airport! THere used to be some great little Indian places nearby...not that my kids would eat much besides rice, but hey, we're going to Disney for them! ;-)

Hi ~ We bring munchies to the airport with us ~ granola bars, breakfast fruit cars, water, apples [travel great!]. At the airport, I'll buy muffins and tea. S

Hey! We live in Nova Scotia, and we're going next month too!
Forget the food in the Toronto airport, take something with you.

We did the same in Jan from Halifax-Toronto-Orlando. I agree with a poster above, I woud not stop in terminal 1 as 2 hrs is not a lot of time to change terminals and go through customs, I would not stop untill you clear Customs.

There are not many food choices in T2 and they were always very crowded.

We did purchase food on the onboard cafe:

Good: Carrots sticks, Soup, pretzel chips, muffins

Not so Good - The sub sandwiches (tried a couple different ones and they were always dry and cold...typical of a roll on a airplane) These were not the subway subs, but I believe from swiss chalet. BUT, I would try them again.

They were out of pizza and harveys breakfast sandwich on all 4 flights to and from orlando. I really wanted to try the pizza.

Enjoy your trip

But make sure those apples are already in your tummies before you go into the US customs and immigration preclearance... 'cause they'll grab them and trash them before your eyes! NO APPLES allowed. (Okay, I've posted on this before. What can I say, it was a traumatic experience)

We had this happen to us at a land border, and as I recall, the fruit in question was FROM the US, had been imported to Canada where we had bought it, but we couldn't bring it back into the US! As I recall, it wasn't even something we grow in Canada--maybe Florida orange or something!
