Tequila, Dole Whips & Tonga Toast: Celebrating 50 years! Read all about it!

:rotfl2::rotfl2::rotfl2::rotfl2::rotfl2:

I haven't laughed so hard in a long time, poor DS!!

Glad you too thought it funny & not just offensive...I wasn't sure

I'm in! Great report so far! We stayed in ASMu, Jazz, in 2008 not sure what room number. Love the pictures from the plane and the great shot of the welcome arch. That's when you know you have arrived and the trip is on!

Chat more later. Have to rip myself away from the boards and get some stuff done this morning!!! :rotfl:

I know, this board is intoxicating, you have to make yourself stop looking :thumbsup2

:scared1: re: the guy in the airport

I can just picture you and your dh laughing hysterically in the airport and your poor embarassed son :rotfl:

Loving your trip report!

Thanks, DS getting embarassed & annoyed actually prolonged the hysteria, I literally had tears streaming down my face with his disgust :rotfl2:

Oh what a funny story! That's just what I needed to start my work day!

Happy Thursday :) Glad I helped start your day with a tickle :dance3:

In reading other TR's, I see people are posting links. Should I be doing that? If so, can anybody tell me how - Thanks!

And now back to our regular program  NO, I forgot one other thing!

Poor Goofy!

I must be showing my age (I am turning 50 afterall) because I always thought I had a pretty good memory for things, but today as I'm folding laundry listening to the Ellen show, it occurs to me I left out one other thing about our Chef Mickey dinner celebrating DS's 14th birthday.

If anyone else watched Ellen today, she showed some viewer pictures mailed in of people visiting theme park characters today. Many were from Disney, some not. But they were absolutley :lmao: :rotfl: :rotfl2:

You really get an appreciation of what the hard working "characters" do to make our days magical.

Which reminded me of our Chef Mickey visit.

First, I must apologize for yet another crotch story, but really folks, this is what happened on our vacation :lmao:

So there we are, enjoying our Chef Mickey dinner. Yes we thoroughly enjoy our interaction with the characters. I will NEVER admit to being too old for a hug from Mickey & friends :thumbsup2

But I do LOVE LOVE LOVE :lovestruc seeing little ones interact with them. It's part of my enjoyment. Even at 14, DS now finds it cute when a real little guy or gal goes over starry eyed to see Mickey for what we imagine their first time.

So back to our dinner, obviously we're surrounded by other guests with lots of little people dining at their tables. 2 tables before ours, but positioned quite close to us, is a family of what appears to be mom, dad, grandma, grandpa and a young boy - maybe 4 years old.

Well, he was about the cutest little guy you'd ever want to see. Really he was & he was also soooo excited to see all the characters

And he did great with all of them. Mickey, Minnie, Donald, Pluto. And then comes Goofy.

Goofy is TALL.

Little boy is NOT tall.

So he's posing with Goofy & they are snapping pictures. In his excitement, he starts rubbing Goofy.

Only Goofy is TALL.

Goofy has lots of self control

DH looks at me. It's the airport all over, only this time DS actually is laughing instead of wanting to go shrivel up in a corner. FOr the love of God, mama, redirect the poor childs hand & give poor Goofy a break :scared1:

I have so much respect for the Disney CM's. They REALLY go out of their way to make us happy :rotfl:

Well, most of them. You'll hear about the flip side soon.

Tune in for the uneventful Birthday celebration but a FANTASIC Fantasmic show!

I promise, no more side trips :lmao:

Great great TR please keep the laughs coming!!!!:lmao:

I will try to slow down to remember the funnies along the way :thumbsup2

I just got so excited learning how to post pic's & then wanted to remember back to what we were doing I realize I was forgetting some of the giggles along the way :cutie:

Glad to see you're still on board :goodvibes

Hey!! I jumped on over here!! From what I can see in your pictures...I'm pretty sure we were next to each other for the opening show!! I'm loving your tr! Can't wait for more :goodvibes

Hey!! I jumped on over here!! From what I can see in your pictures...I'm pretty sure we were next to each other for the opening show!! I'm loving your tr! Can't wait for more :goodvibes

And here I thought "It's a Small World" was closed for refurbishments while we were there :goodvibes

To those not in on our exchange, princess_momma is doing a TR, she was at WDW the EXACT same dates as we & it turns out we were both at rope drop for the MK on the same day popcorn::

An uneventful birthday celebration with a FANTASIC Fanstamic!

Okay, I believe I've recalled to memory all the side stories about crotches so we can now continue with the rest of the TR. I left off on our day 3, which was our 2nd "full" day. I suppose the reason I short change the arrival & departure days as little "bonus" extras is due to the fact I am insane about touring so if it isn't a completely full day, then it's not a true day :confused3

Anyway, DS is still sleeping, it's now noon & DH is BORED. So we decide to go to the pool & let DS sleep until he's satisfied. DS has a talent for sleeping, you can wake him to tell him what you're doing, the boy will then roll over & go back to sleep :confused3

So we tell him his cell is laying on the night stand, we'll have our phones & be over at the pool.

But first, an adult beverage. Well, for me. DH started without me :rotfl2: Hey, don't judge, afterall its now past noon :lmao:

So I use those WONDERFUL plastic mugs to mix up 2 wine coolers since I wouldn't want to take any glass to the pool. Those & a few cans of beer go into our soft sided cooler & off to the pool we go. We decide to go to the piano pool this time. It really is so lovely at the ASMusic piano bar. So sorry I didn't take any pictures. But the landscaping is so pretty.

We enjoyed it for about an hour then went back to the room to check on DS.

The boy is still sleeping

Son, you ready to get up?

30 more minutes, okay?

:sad2:

One more round

Finally we TELL the boy it's time to get up, geesh :upsidedow

By the time we get to the busstop, it's now about 2:00 which is good, we have an ADR at Hollywood & Vine for 3:55. If it goes well, we'll make it soon enough to go see the Great Movie Ride before the parade & then show up for our dinner early.

The only problem is today the bus was NOT timely. First time our whole trip. I counted 3 MK buses, 2 AK, 2 Epcot, even 2 BB & 2 TL/DTD. When I saw a bus for ESPN / Wide World of Sports - I mean, who has EVER seen one of those, seriously :headache: I was starting to worry. ANyway, about 30 minutes FINALLY a DHS bus shows up. We get into the park at the END of the Block party parade  Can't go anywhere but at least there's a RR we can get to ;)

By the time we get over to H&V, it's now after 3 pm so I figure we may as well check in early for our dinner since everyone is hungry. DS volunteers to be the FP runner & goes off to Star Tours to get all of us a FP. We put our name in at H&V and are seated in about 10 minutes - 15 minutes before our ADR :cool1:

As we're seated, the hostess says to me, "Oh, I see you're celebrating your birthday, Happy Birthday"

I appreciated her saying that, even though it wasn't my "offical" birthday our trip was to celebrate our birthdays so I thanked her. She said, "I'll let your server know it's your birthday."

So here comes our server. Hello my name is John (not really) & I'll be your server. Can I get you anything to drink?

His enthusiam is killing me :rolleyes1

So we place our drink orders & DS & I head to the buffet. (DH usually waits at the table so I don't have to worry about my purse).

I get back, DH tells me the server gave him "something"

It's our fantasmic dining voucher.

I put it in a safe place & begin to enjoy my meal. The caesar salad was fabulous :thumbsup2 I liked the shrimp & the cocktail sause was reasonably spicy. I like WDW mashed potatoes. Maybe because I haven't been eating them on South Beach they tasted all the better.

When I went to get a slice of carved beef, it was impressive to see just how small a slice the "chef" could carve without it deteriorating

That's okay, you can go for seconds, thirds, do I hear fourths?

I think the waiter comes over, he doesn't talk to us. We get some kind of facial expression, not a smile, not a frown. I don't know what it is.

Is there something hanging out of my nose

Am I slobbering :lmao:

No food all over my shirt :cool2:

I look at my guys. Nothing disgusting with them.

I non-chanlantly check DH's shorts - no nylons :rotfl:

Well, our waiter DID clear our plates & refill our drinks but NO WAY was he going to engage in any pleasant conversations :confused3

All I have to say is I'm glad this wasn't my first WDW dining experience

And to think I've always defended H&V when it gets flamed on the restaurant boards. Oh well.

When we finished, HE SPOKE!

Can I get you anything else?

No thank-you.

He presented our bill.

Well Happy Birthday to me :rotfl:

CONT, the day improves :thumbsup2

The day improves...A FANTASTIC Fantasmic

AFter our meal at DHS, we decide to see how well our digestion worked by going straight to STAR TOURS.

DH had rode it before, I reminded him of that to make sure he wanted to do it again.

:thumbsup2

So we use the FP's DS had secured before our meal. I was glad to have FP's even though the wait time posted said 20 minutes. I was even tempted to go stand by so we could FP & ride again, but seeing as we were holding our FP's from this mornings rope drop, I decided against it. I'm glad I did because as we walked through the FP side, it was apparant that the posted time had to be in error. My guess is the line had built up to 45 minutes.

I just love riding Star Tours. After they close the doors & your ride vehicle takes off with the incompetent little driver behind the wheel you really do feel like you're in a spaceship. I was thinking to myself it would be WAY cool if they could've put Michael Jackson's Captain EO into an attraction like this :thumbsup2

Then off to Muppets 3-D. I HAVE to have my Muppets fix EVERY trip to DHS. I never tire of their silliness. Sam the Eagle is my hero!

By now, we're infront of the Chinese Theater. I can't decide how I feel about the sorcerors hat blocking its view because it's so neat to look at:

WDW2010112.jpg

And the entrance to the theater
WDW2010113.jpg

As you can, it wasn't too crowded here. DS & DH used the TSM FP's we had from doing rope drop & I took a ride on the Great Movie Ride while they rode. I told DS since Dad had beat me fair & square earlier in the day, he as the challanger needed to take him down a peg :3dglasses

Didn't happen - it was DH's day & he remains the TSM champ :woohoo:

DS hung his head in shame. Beat by another 50 year old, old fart. How can someone so efficient on electronic games allow this to happen?

Did you know there is a bar at DHS? It's called the "Tune In" lounge & it's located in the waiting area for the 50's Prime Time Diner, next door to H&V.

This is where we left DH so we could go use our 4 FP's for RnRC.

DS was so excited to ride RnRC twice in a row :cool1:

DH was so excited to have a beverage at the Tune In Lounge :cool1:

DS thanked me for getting the FP's so he could ride TSM & RnRC  Said he felt pretty good now, he really needed the extra rest

WOW, I LOVE riding RnRC with Aerosmith. Love the music, the take off, the upside down, about the time it ends I'm just feeling warmed up! I wish it would go around twice, that would make it PERFECT!

Of course we bought DS a pair of drum sticks afterwards. It's his favorite Disney souvieneer, RnRC drum sticks.

Oh, I just remembered that earlier in the day, after I got the second set of RnRC FP's, walking by the Beauty & the Beast set, I saw the "director" from the opening ceremony. He was talking to an older couple & totally in character. I went over to inquire about the entrance to Fantasmic using the dining voucher since I'd heard it had been moved. This guy was so funny. I played along with him.

ME: Excuse me, is this where the fantamic dining entrance is located?

DIRECTOR: Loved your last film. You REALLY deserve an Oscar. Stellar perfomance!

ME: Then why don't you ever call me?

DIRECTOR: Now sweetie, you know I always call you. These things are complicated you know.

About that time the woman in the blue dress, his "cast member" walks up.

BLUE DRESS LADY: SO! Is this HER?

DIRECTOR: Now dearie

LADY: Don't YOU now dearie me. I know you've been calling her.

And they continured to carry on arguing. It was sooo funny. Their spontanuety was incredible.

But if you could have seen the older couple looking at the 3 of us, that was even funnier. I think they thought I was a CM.

The director & the blue dress lady were a hoot! I enjoyed playing with them. I'd always heard of the "actors" hanging out on the DHS streets but this was my first time interacting with them.

Oops, I did it again :upsidedow

Okay, back to the Fantamsic show. After the double RnRC rides with DS, we got a snack & decided to head over to Fantamic early. Even though we had the vouchers, I didn't want to take any chances getting a seat.

We went to the theatre about an hour before the show. The ENTIRE middle sections were completely filled up. THe dining section on the far right of the stage was basically all open, as well as the opposite far left, about the same amount of space.

We don't mind sitting in the dining section, we prefer being near the exit for a quick escape :thumbsup2

So we sat all the way up at the top basically by the isle separating the 2 sections. Tons of space around us. A younger woman & husband with her parents come in & start asking us questions about the show. They decide to sit infront of us, mom & dad directly in front of us, daugher & hubbie in front of them. They were from Michigan - more WOLVERINES :lmao:

Am I an OHIO STATE BUCKEYE magnet to Wolverines? 2 in 2 days!

We really did have a great conversation. Made the 45 minutes pass quickly. I really LOVE the excitement that builds prior to FANTAMIC.

OH, & we are on the DDP so we got LOTS of SNACKS! That was fun too!

ANd then we saw the lights in the sky :scared1: Uh-oh. That better be heat lightening.

FInally there's an announcement that FANTASMIC wills start in 10 minutes.

We hear the 10 minutes announcement about 3 times.

We keep seeing the heat lightening, at least I hope it's heat lightening.

HURRY UP & START THE SHOW ALREADY!!!!!!!

ANd then finally!

THis is my favorite part, when they light the lake on fire. Look closely, you can see the dragon's eyes lit up
WDW2010129.jpg

It was humid & a lot of my pic's didn't come out, but I really like the showboat with the cast of characters at the end
WDW2010130.jpg

I didn't get too good a picture of the fireworks exploding either but here's the best one of the lot
WDW2010132.jpg

Exiting in front of the crowd makes DH very happy. He was about spent by the time the show ended & we were fortunate enough to be able to get a seat on the bus that was WAITING at our stop when we got out of the park. So that made up for the earlier bus delay & getting to see Fantasmic made up for the not so "stellar" dining experience. Either way, I was with my 2 guys so a day with them is still a great day no matter what the circumstances :cloud9:

Coming up: Dole Whips, Luaus & Arrrrg pirate:

Really funny report. And moving right along, too! When I skimmed and saw the Airport headline, I'm like, "Are they leaving already?!?" I love that you guys work so well together- you each are able to do the things you like, even if it means having to separate and do different things for a bit.

I love my solo time in the parks. My DH will quite often take the boys back to the resort if I am not done playing, or he will take them to see Indiana Jones AGAIN while I see Little Mermaid or Beauty and the Beast for the first time. I totally get what you mean about getting grief for "torturing" the males!

Thank-you. I have been writing fast because I'm afraid if I wait too long I'll forget what we did  But now that I'm getting into my TR groove, schools starting & the "official" birthdays & anniversary dates are coming up, I may slow down just a bit - IDK, but it's really been fun reminiscing about the trip. Usually I get the post trip blues but this TR has really helped alot :lovestruc

It took us a few trips for me to realize, "Hey, it's okay if we do our own thing a little bit." It's not like we're stuck like glue at home so why would we be at Disney :goodvibes ANd with DS a responsible young teen, this was the first trip we felt comfortable letting him have a little independence on the trip. So yeah, it did make the trip nicer for all of us to feel like we could do the things than we enjoyed the most.

Although there was a little disention amongst the ranks on our next MK day as I was notified I had "over-planned" :confused3  :rolleyes1

Did my good humor wear thin popcorn::

Did DH stick to the plan popcorn::

Did DS get embarassed popcorn::

STAY TUNED!

Loving the report. The stories are hilarious! It sounds like you guys had an amazing trip so far :thumbsup2

Thank you for the :thumbsup2 We were at a party this weekend, I was telling some of the group about our next MK day & they were all laughing so I'm excited to share it next. Hope you enjoy :)

Dole Whips, Luaus & Arrrrrgh pirate:

Part 1: Dole Whips THe beginning of overplanning

Thanks to my obsessing over the DISboards pretrip, I learned of 3 things I had yet to try at WDW in spite of having visited now six times since 2001 that really sounded good AND which shows that an old dog can indeed learn new tricks :cool2:

The first being the Cava de Tequilla which I sought out on arrival day. Had it not been for our reservation at San Angel, I think I could have spent a LOT more time there :lmao:

The second was this thing called a Dole Whip. I've read numerous posts about DISboards posters that just rave about these wonderful non-alcoholic beverages. Now on South Beach, when we started eating fruits again it recommeded not to have the extremely sugary fruits, namely those being watermelon & pineapple, 2 of my favorites. But we've been obedient so we've avoided them for 4 months so you can imagine the salavating I was doing just thinking about some mouth watering pineapple swirled into ice cream prior to our trip.

I didn't get a chance with all the excitement in taming mountains on our first MK day, so in my mind I was thinking day 2 over at MK was going to be the day for sure :woohoo:

And if you've been reading along, you know I like "themes" so for our 3rd full day (not including arrival day) being on a Friday night, I had planned another first, namely being the luau so the theme of the day was Polynesian. I envisioned touring Adventureland, having the coveted Dole Whip, enjoying the marvelous luau & then finishing up with MK late EMH's of more mountains because DS & I are insatisiable when it comes to our MK mtns

Well, prior to our trip, about a month out my aunt who is reading along this TR but not posting since she hasn't joined the DISboards (Hello Auntie :wave2: you really should join so you can post on my report  ) well anyway, when they went they took a Pirates & Pals cruise to see the MK fireworks & said it was absolutely fantastic! So I'm thinking, well, this way our small group of 3 could afford to sail the 7 seas & see the fireworks, it's a little more than the dessert party I was checking into (thanks again to the wealth of info on this board) but thinking back to our 2005 trip, when we were celebrating same auntie's 50th b-day & 8 of our family rented a pontoon to see MK fireworks, since it was 3rd of July (yes, day before 4th) they took all the pontoons out to the SIDE of 7 seas lagoon on the other side of the CR to see the special "double" fireworks scheduled for the 4th but shown also the night before. It was amazing, don't get me wrong, I loved every minute, but I told myself back then that ONE day, I'd like to see those fireworks backdropped BEHIND Cinderella's castle.

So I'm having one of those indulgent moments thinking, hmmm, what about a Polynesian Day with a Pirate twist

Hey, that does sound like fun :yay:

What the heck, you turn 50 only once - Good Lord willing - so why not overindulge in a luau & pirates cruise for our Friday night at WDW?

SO I call popcorn::

YES :yay: Availablility! I'm on :cloud9:

Even though DH or DS really don't get into all the pretrip details, I did share with both of them in advance our Friday night plans & how exciting it's going to be.

So fast forward, it's now the Friday of our trip. With all this excitement coming up tonight, DS & I had talked on the bus ride home from fantasmic how we should probably hang around the pool, have some food court lunch & just chill during the day before starting out around maybe 3pm. This sounded good since we didn't want him running out of steam again & he knew we'd be staying at MK until about 2am.

CONT.

CONT, Dole Whips Part 1The mountain that whipped my DH

So we all sleep in Friday, this was my first day to sleep in on our trip & it was heavenly :cloud9: I didn't realize how tired I was :goodvibes

DS being a teen, it's now going on noon & he's still sleeping. DH has been to the food court, filled our mugs with that hideous Necafe & is pacing the room like a caged bear. Our conversation went something like this.....

DH: Are we going anywhere today?

ME: Yes DH, today's the luau & the pirates cruise, remember?

DH: (poining at DS) Well, is he ever going to get up then?

ME: We're having a sleep in day.

DH: He had a sleep in day yesterday

ME: Well, he's having another.

DH: There's nothing to do here

ME: I thought you'd like some time to relax. If you're hungry you can get some lunch from the food court.

DH: Do you want something?

ME: Not really, I'd rather wait & get something at the MK & try another CS

DH: Well, then let's got to the MK & get some lunch.

ME: Well, DS & I talked last night on the bus about staying here until about 3pm since we're going to do the EMH night at MK.

DH: I'm not staying out late at the MK

ME: I didn't think you'd want to, but while we're waiting for the crowds to thin I'm hoping we'll ride Haunted Mansion with you since we didn't get to do that the other night.

DH: Well, if we don't get up & do something, I'm not going to go anywhere. I'll just stay here then.

ME: Do you want to go to the pool & lay out a little?

DH: Maybe after I eat, I'm getting hungry. He needs to get up so we can do something.

So at this point, thinking DH is going to bail on my evenings plans if we don't start navigating, we get DS. Now he's grouchy because he said that I said we weren't going to go until 3pm.

ME: Comeon DS, dad wants to head over to the MK. It's not his favorite park & if he's willing to go now, let's just go. We'll get some lunch over there.

I figured we could get adventureland toured since that area has a few things to do & is a reasonable area to tour in the afternoon.

So after a small amount of griping over the "plan" changing, we're off.

Naturally since we were all a little at odds with one another, this would be THE day we had our second, but I'm happy to say, last longer wait for our bus.

I think we waited the full 20 minutes, but it could've been more. It was HOT & we were getting hungry but since DS had ate some cereal in the room before we left we decided to wait for the lunch crowds to thin before getting lunch since it was still before 1pm.

We headed towards adventureland, by now I'm getting excited to try one of those famous DOLE WHIPS :woohoo: only when we get to the Aloha stand, good grief the line looks as long as Peter Pan :scared1: I don't think so! So we pass by it & I announce I'm going to get a Jungle Cruise FP.

DS: (groaning) You've GOT to be kidding, Jungle Cruise?

ME: Jungle Cruise is a classic

DS: Jungle Cruise is LAME

ME: DAD will ride Jungle Cruise. I like it. I remember riding it with your Grandpa. Allow your inner toddler out & you'll enjoy it to.

DS: :sad2:

So I get Jungle Cruise FP's, as expected there's only about a 40 minute wait which I point out to DS. He can choose the next set.

So what do you do while hanging out in adventureland?

Why see the Tiki Birds of course!
WDW2010133.jpg

DS had this scowl on his face as we waited, entered & sat down. I decided to ignore him :rolleyes1

After the Tiki Birds, the Aloha stand STILL has a line a mile long. Dang, those Dole Whips MUST be good!

TODAY we all got to ride the Pirates of the Caribean together!

Ah, family harmony.

Now, it's time for our Jungle Cruise FP time. As we head back, a quick glance over to the Aloha station, STILL a looong line.

So we ride the Jungle Cruise. I LOVE the Jungle Cruise. I would be so mad it they ever discontinued it. The cheesy jokes make it all the better.

Not the best pic, but I always get nervous using my camera when I'm surrounded by water :cutie:
WDW2010136.jpg

Don't you love those "elephants" - they're always taking a bath

I think I saw DS grinning as we exited the ride. When he saw me looking at him, he quickly gave me the "bored" look.

By now we're all famished, since Peco's Bill is close by, we choose to go there for our counter service lunch.

Boy is it a big place! And as I had read on the boards, they had CM's out in full force controlling the table hogging by non-food bearing guests. DH & I got the taco salad, DS got the burger & fries.

I was impressed with the fixin's bar, mushroom & cooked onions, wow. DH wanted to know where the jalepaneo peppers were :rolleyes1

While I was ordering, DS went to get FP's for Big Thunder. The entire lunch he aggravated his dad about his promise to ride it with him. Knowing nothing about this, I did try to put a stop to it but having his belly full, DH decided, no DW, it's okay, I think I'll ride. Afterall, he had rode it a few years back & now that he knows he wasn't going to have a concussion hitting his head on any of the low rocks, perhaps he may be able to enjoy.

So off we go to BTRRM.

BTRRM you can think of it as a 3 part ride, IMO. Section 1 is the part going through the tunnel, leading to the "waterfall" and then you get a warm up first couple of hills.

This part went well, or so I thought.

Section 2 is where you start up the big hill, to the right you see the peak of the mountain & the park including Cinderella's castle. Once you hit the top, you enjoy the second & IMO fastest part of the ride, where you get the illusion of your head hitting a rock & a marvelous douple dip.

As we're going up that hill, I look back at my 2 guys & DH has his head down. I doubt seriously he is praying.

I suggest he NOT keep his head down that low, but rather to just look at the back of my head. He tells me to stop talking to him.

Section 3 is where you go up the hill inside the mine & it appears you go down where the track is broken. There's a few fast circle turns & then you're about done.

Last hill & you're rounding back into the station. We get off the ride, DH is walks past the ENTIRE area of seating in the shade, stands in the sun between BTRRM & Splash Mtn & announces he needs to sit down.

DS accuses him of "faking" it and overreacting

So now I'm referee'ing the 2. DH is now ready to leave. Screw the luau & all the evening fun, DS is calling him a drama king. Lord help me, this is what an anuersim feels like.

So I finally get DS to pipe down & quit being so unsympathetic.

I convense DH he needs to get in AIR CONDITIONING fast & sit for a while.

So we end up going to the Country Bears Jambore. Next show, 12 minutes. PERFECT!

DH: I should have just gone to the pool

ME: Are you okay?

DS: He's so faking it

ME/DH: Put a lid on it!

DH: I'm feeling better now

So we go see the show. I'm thrilled because I didn't think I'd get either of them to agree to sit through what they consider 17 minutes of stupidity. But me, I love my Country Bears. How can you not?

My favorite bear, all the way on the left. We sing alike
WDW2010137.jpg

Gotta get the other side so we're not lop-sided!
WDW2010138.jpg

By the time we leave the bears, everyone is feeling much better. And it's about the time to be heading over to the luau. So let's cut through Adventureland.

Come you know what or high water, I'm waiting in that Aloha stand to get me a DOLE WHIP

We meander over, the line is still long. I tell the boys to just have a seat.

DS: Comeon MOM

ME: Go away. Find a seat. Dad's feeling better, go torment him

Off he goes. So I get through the line. FINALLY it's my turn. Now I notice you can not only get a DOLE WHIP, but you can get a DOLE WHIP FLOAT. Hmm, that has pineapple juice all over it. Now THAT sounds good

 Oh my! If you ever saw the movie "Young Frankenstein" when Madaline Kahn sang her song to the monster "Ooooh, at LAST I have found you!" Well, that's about how WONDERFUL a dole whip float tastes!

Thank you DISboards for tellling me about Dole Whips. They are great :cheer2:

Tune in for Part 2, the Luau

Will DH call it a night popcorn::

Will DS get annoyed being around old farts popcorn::

Will MY patience wear thin popcorn::

Will everyone get overheated popcorn::

TUNE IN!

PHEW!!! I thought after all that buildup and waiting for the Dole Whip, you weren't going to like it! Definitely a refreshing treat!

Looking forward to hearing the excitement in store for the rest of the evening!

Oh my goodness, you had my laughing my bootie off. I know I shouldn't have been laughing about teenagers sleeping in, semi-arguing over teenagers sleeping in, when you should go to the Magic Kingdom or the conversations between the three of you. But it was just so funny to me.

You know in all of my trips to Disney, I have never had a Dole Whip either. I always pass by and smell that yummy smell but have yet to get one.

I found your link on another TR. When I saw your location I had to jump on for the ride!

I still haven't had a Dole Whip, the line was too long when we were there in Sept. I'm most anxious to try one.

Your DH seems to be a good sport about letting you ride without him. I don't get to do that, but since the kids are grown it is just the two of us that visit WDW now.

Great TR, I'm enjoying it very much!

I'm also very excited to try a dole whip...yum!

I was really siked out to try one & glad I did (actually, I got back again that week :woohoo: )

I thought the whole sleeping thing was funny too. After 18 years of marriage it does get easier to look at the humorous side of a "discussion" instead of working yourself up into a fit :rolleyes1

You really should make a point of trying a dole whip :cutie:

Hi there :wave2: We do live in the same neck of the woods! Glad to have you along for the "read" :goodvibes

DH just doesn't like "thrill" rides that turn him upside down, joggle him up & down, speed up & down hills faster than 20 mph, pretty much everything I love :upsidedow so it just works better for both of us if I ride & he people watches. This way we're both happy. However, I think he enjoys the people watching better when we find him a bar stool to do it from :lmao: I think that's why MK is his least favorite park - no place to sneak off for a beer. Unfortunately, that's DS's favorite :headache:
