Is it any different than your usual neighborhood Japanese steak house? We are thinking about checking it out this trip.

I've wondered the same thing. DH and the girls both really love any type of asian food (DH is asian) so I've been pondering Teppan Edo except that it seems very overpriced for the same thing I can get locally at a Japanese steakhouse. Is the food really good and how are the portion sizes? (I've seen pix but it's hard to say how the portions are from a photo - Dh typically complains it's not enough food at Japanese steakhouses and no, he is not really a big guy)

The big difference for us is the quality of the food. Otherwise to the ones in Atlanta the "show" is a lot of like.

We love it and it is one of our traditions to go to Tepan Edo (and Mitsukoshi before that), but I really do not think it is all that different than any of my local Japanese Steakhouses. In fact there are other JSH's nearby WDW that are probably just as good and entertaining, but Tepan Edo is on the DDP and it's convenient.

We're also thinking of trying it.. (we want to try at least one new place each trip, and ) this one is the one I booked to try, but I have been considering changing it if I can get something else, because sometimes my kids are picky... can they get chicken fingers here??? and we'll have an 18 month old with us at the time of our trip.. so how about for a little guy.. will it be entertaining enough to keep his interest? ( I know they won't starve if they don't eat much .. but I hate to really waste a ressie if they would like something else better)... I know most places are kid friendly... but how about this one? ..

Probably not much difference except maybe the price. You won't get your chef making a Mickey Mouse out of an onion at the neighborhood joint. Another difference some point out is that Teppan Edo does not serve fried rice - just steamed.

I got the following off allears.net:

------------
Kids Menu

Kids' Teppan - includes vegetables, Udon noodles and steamed rice

Tori - chicken breast $12.00
Ebi - large shrimp $12.50

Okosama Set - includes vegetables, steamed rice and dessert

Tempura Combo - shrimp and chicken $9.50
Teriyaki Chicken $9.50
------------

The tempura chicken listed above is probably the closest thing they have to chicken fingers but if your kids are really picky they'll notice it's nothing like McDonald's or Applebee's.

We love the food at Teppan Edo, but it is almost exactly like the hibachi steak house we have at home, even the pricing. If you have the dining plan, it's an excellent choice and good entertainment too.
