Teppen Edo or Cape May?

:)We enjoy both, however, if you don't enjoy sitting/eating with strangers Teppan Edo might not be the place for you. We just got back from staying at the BCVs and had dinner our first night at Cape May Cafe and really enjoyed it. It is buffet and has something for everybody and the food was replenished frequently. I don't think you will be disappointed with either choice.

Have done both and we prefer Teppan Edo. Teppan Edo is a must do for us each trip. We've never had a bad meal or experience there.

My DW loves Teppan Edo. Great food and show. However, normally since it's just the two of us, I find it somewhat uncomfortable sitting with others we don't know. We've had nothing but good experiences sitting with our table mates. If you don't mind sitting with others, I vote for Teppan Edo over Cape May.

It's kinda like comparing apples and oranges - two totally different experiences.

If you aren't any kind of rush to get through dinner, Teppan Edo.
If you would rather get in, get your food, and not have to wait, Cape May.
If you have been to a hibachi-style Japanese restaurant before, try Cape May.
If you really, really like seafood, Cape May.
If you don't like seafood, Teppan Edo.
If you don't have your own vehicle, Teppan Edo (because it's kind of a pain to get to the resorts if you are relying on Disney buses).

Not sure if I made things any easier for you, but that's my 2 cents!

We went to Teppan Edo before they refurbed, and it was basically like any other Japanese steakhouse we've been to. Really good food, nice ambience, but it wasn't a unique experience for us. We tried Cape May the week of May 3rd and absolutely LOVED it. We really dig crab legs, and they had the best ones we've ever had - very fresh (yeah, I know they come from Alaska, but they sure were fresher than other places we've had them!). We had our own car, so getting to the Beach Club was not an issue. If we had to rely on the buses, we'd definitely think twice about resort-hopping to go to restaurants!

We have done Teppan Edo 9+ times...

Cape May (prior to snow crab) 3 times...

My vote is for Teppan Edo... (DS18 and I were there last week and LOVED it as usual)...

As pp mentioned...BOTH are very different experiences... Cape May is good for a quick "in and out" meal... Teppan Edo is more of an experience...

BUT the food at Teppan Edo is wonderful... Cape May is (imho) a standard buffet...

Have a magical visit!

Hey there sstewart!

Okay, first off my family have done Cape May many times and have no complaints. It's clean, efficient, the food is very good and I personally think it is much quieter than a Crystal Palace or Chef Mickey ... if that means anything to you.

Teppan Edo is where I am going to offer a suggestion ... if it is possible for you. On all the boards I am a member of I always try to dissuade people from eating in the countries of EPCOT because, in my opinion, they are WAY over-rated and over-priced. Believe me ... I understand the whole "experience" thing but sometimes saving money prevails.

Now, all that being said there is nothing really wrong with Teppan Edo ... good food, a nice show, and the Japanese bling surrounding you. However, if you have the means to leave Disney property I STRONGLY recommend the Kobe restaurant. My family and I have found that if you go off property you will get more food, a slightly better more entertaining show, and you will pay less!

There were so many times we walked out of Teppan and were still hungry! But it is entirely up to you ... like I said ... there is nothing wrong with Teppan but there are very good alternatives!

I Hope This Helps In Some Way! Take Care and Be Safe!

Cape May. It does not have an offsite counter part. Any offsite "seafood buffet" is pretty horrible. :( The food at Cape May is prepared well (not over cooked, and replenished quickly and often) still tastes good (hasn't fallen victim to the standardization rampant throughout Disney dining) and is clean, clean, clean. The servers are prompt to clear the tables, and the selection truly offers something for everyone.

The Japanese restaurant is pale in comparison to those found offsite. For good Japanese food, and the same entertainers (the drummers) try Ran Gitsu on I Drive. ::yes::

definitely Cape May!! ::yes::

fantastic seafood- all you can eat clams for a set, relatively cheap (cheap for disney, that is :lmao:), what can be better??

if you're not a seafood fan, then choose teppen edo. we've been there a couple times, and it is pretty neat.

that being said, we eat at cape may almost every year. we can't go without the clam chowder (my mom has the recipe and makes it quite often at home :goodvibes)! lots of different foods, not to mention the dessert buffet! best desserts in the World, no doubt! :thumbsup2
