Teppanyaki - Japan Pavilion - questions

I have gone there twice, each time a few years apart. While it was good, I find Hibachi steakhouse if you have that chain near you, to be a bit better. I find Tepanyaki to be boring for me now bc we go to Hibachi so much around here.

I just searched & can't find my photos from there. My DDs & I ate there last Christmas night as part of the CP package. We loved it & definitely plan to go back. We each did a different appetizer--salad with ginger dressing, soup, & soy beans. We enjoyed all of them. We had the chicken, steak, & shrimp entree between the three of us. It was delicious. We were too stuffed for dessert so they fixed us pineapple to take back to the room for later. My youngest DD wanted me to tell you that we shared the table with another family which was ok & that our server cooked in front us. He was very entertaining.

Do you actually eat while the chef is there or does he leave when done cooking ? can you get extra rice if you need it ? also is there any flavoring for the meat like a sauce ?

The chef prepares the veggies and noodles first and it is served to you at that time. We did begin to eat it as he prepared the meat and seafood. Once the meats were done, he did excuse himself and the "waitress" took over with drink refills and the like. We didn't ask for extra rice, but I don't think it would be a problem. Also, there were two bowls of dipping sauce for each person and the chef indicated which one was better for beef or chicken & seafood. They weren't thick sauces, just a light flavoring.

Hope that helps!

We REALLY enjoyed it (ages 8-42).

Do try the edamame (sp?) aka "soybean pods". I've had a craving since. Very yummy.

Funny about sharing the table -- real Disney Magic at work that night. Our table companions were a couple also from Canada who were also raising 4 (now-adult) daughters! They were some years ahead of us & were very reassuring that we too could survive this!

While there may be other Hibachi places we could drive to, we just never do go out for dinner except on our vacations. And the other Hibachi places don't come with all the Japan buildings, gardens that Epcot does to put us in the mood. Oh, and they don't do the DDP! :goodvibes
