Teppanyaki is going to be very similar to any number of Japanese teppan-style steakhouses. We found it to be really good, but I have to admit that even here in Jackson, Mississippi we have two restaurants that are just as good, and for significantly less money. (But you are at WDW, after all!) I don't remember what anyone else had, but I had sirloin steak and scallops. It was all tasty and nicely prepared. I missed having fried rice - entrees come with steamed rice, and if you want soup and/or salad, it's extra.

Don't misunderstand me - there was nothing wrong with Teppanyaki. But I felt that there are other options in Epcot that are a little more appealing.

Enjoy!

We ate there for lunch on our last trip (July 05). It was great! We had a ADR for about 1pm and we showed up early and were seated. There was only two of us so we shared a table with another family (very nice family, took pictures of us). The food was good and I am from NY where we can get just about any type of food we want! I think I had chicken and shrimp, I am not sure what my DBF got. We also ordered sushi app and it was really good too! I didn't think it was that expensive, in fact I thought it was comparable to most Japanese steakhouses. I definitly think you should try it! Lunchtime seemed quiet so I would maybe say go there for lunch. Sorry I have no pics :guilty:

We have eaten there a bunch of times, DH loves Japanese food. Food at Epcot was very good. We took a friend and her husband with us a few years ago, she is the pickiest eater, worse than a 3 year old ha ha. Well she said she would have a drink while the three of us ate......as soon as the food was plated she was trying all of our dinners and loved it....we told her to ORDER YOUR OWN!! Ha ha

We love it and go every trip. We're also huge teppanyaki lovers and it's true that in most places the food will be very similar. I had the steak and chicken combo and it was very, very good. I definitely reccomend it.

Ghost, Great thread.

I've been curious about Teppanyaki too.

For the others thanks for the replies and the link with pics. :thumbsup2

My DW and I are looking forward to dining here in December.

We've been wanting to try this as well. Can I share an entree with DD or is that not allowed?

We have this as our first ADR this coming Friday night. We have eaten at the "Japanese Steak House" type restaurant close to home many times, our kids love it so we thought we would try it this time. We have never been to Teppanyaki before.

I will let everyone know what we thought. We are on the DDP, so it should be a big meal.

A couple sitting at our table shared an entree, no problem.

We liked it. We were on the dining plan. If not on the plan, it would have been expensive for DS, I think.

The menu on allearsnet is old. here is the current one

We thought it was good, as good as places near home, but with less food (even on the dining plan). And our chef was ok, not really that great. Probably next time we will skip this and try somewhere else new to us at Epcot.

We loved the food there and we had a great chef that entertained the kids and us. I have eaten there both trips I have made to Disney and both times the food has been good.

It is good, but our local Japanese steak house is better. Yes, you can share. The dessert selection is basically ice cream of pineapple--not worth the $ unless you are on the dining plan.

The service was less than wonderful...hard to get the drinks refilled, no Splenda for ice tea.

As of May, the menus have been rewritten to fit the DDP. On the plan, you can get anything listed as an appetizer, entree, or combination. Sushi is on a separate sushi menu and lobster is a "side item," so these would be an OOP purchase.

I got reservations here for August and I can't wait! I've never tried it but I love stir fry!...

I'm not really looking forward to sitting with strangers. (We hated biergarten because of that aspect). But I'm curious to see the "show" the cook puts on at our table and the food sounds sooooo good.

According to this menu the only appetizer available is 'soybean pods'? Can you substitute a basic salad or soup? I've also heard that ice cream is the only dessert option available for people on the dining plan. Does anyone know if that's true? Thanks!

My mom is wanting to cancel our ADR for Le Cellier to go to Tempanyaki instead, but neither of us have ever eaten Japanese food and there's not a place close by to try one to see if we like it.

The restaurant doesn't serve 'stir fry' as in stir fried in a pan. It is Japanese Hibachi style steackhouse which means all the food is cooked on a big grill/skillet in front of you. It's more like grilled food than stir fry. Also, the rice is not mixed in with the food as you would think in a stir fry. It is served separate in a bowl. Just wanted to give you a heads up incase that is not what you expected. You should still def try it though because it is really good food!

Don't worry about that! We were a party of two and honestly didn't feel weird at all sitting with another family. There was an empty chair in between us and we were on the end of the table and had lots of privacy :teeth:

We ate there a few weeks ago and it was my DH's favorite meal all week. Our chef was very entertaining and the food was very good. We did have a garden salad as an appetizer, the waitress brought everyone a sample dish of the Seaweed salad and it was interesting! for dessert we had our choice of 3 or 4 different ice creams, and a ginger cake, and something else, but it escapes me now. Sitting with strangers was fun. We were all from different parts of the country and shared stories about where we were from and park experiences and we also had time to just talk to DH. It is a fun evening! Right when we finished, Illuminations was starting so we just stayed on the deck outside the restaurant and that is a pretty good viewing site.

thanks for the info so far, and the pictures.... I loved the "character" once.... :thumbsup2

My aunt and her kids love Teppanyaki and try to eat there at least once every trip. So, when we met up at WDW we usually eat there with them.

We have never chosen to go there on our own due to the fact that they do not participate in the Disney Dining Experience Discount plan. There are plenty of other WDW restaurants that will give us our 20% off.

The food is good but I believe it is typical of other Japanese habichi (sp?) places across the nation.

That being said, I will be making ADRs at Teppanyaki for our upcoming trip in August since they are participate in the DDP. My girls always have a yearning for rice (esp. the sticky Japanese kind) after a steady diet of western/american fare and we refuse to eat at Nine Dragons after numerous tries over the decade and not one good meal.

Do not miss Miyuki, the Candylady, do her show right outside. It is one of the kids favorites. Check showtimes.

Guess I am in the minority...I didn't think it was very good. Not bad, but just so- so at best. I am glad I tried it once...but we won't be returning.

We ate there last Thursday and everyone in our family thoroughly enjoyed it. Our family had never been to anything like it before, so we have nothing to compare it to, but both DS's (13 & 14) thought it was way cool! We apparently had the first ADR of the day at noon and they did a small opening ceremony in the lobby before seating guests. It was neat. There were about four choices for appetizers and 8 or so entrees. For dessert we had the chestnut cake, ginger ice cream, and fresh pineapple. (We were on the DDP.)

Our group of eight enjoyed it -- age range from 7 to 47. The kids in particular liked trying some new foods, and several of them now regularly eat seaweed salad and sushi. If you've been to a Benihanas, it's similar. Our chef, interestingly enough, had worked at a restaurant about 5 miles from our house before relocating to WDW a few years ago!
