What do you think about Teppanyaki DR? We are trying to decide if we should try to add this one to our ADR's. Any reviews-good or bad? Thank you.:confused3

Hi

Never eaten there but I know it is down for rehab soon ..I tried to get adrs for August and it is closed then.

We love Teppanyaki and go every year. Unfortunately it will be closed this year when we go! You can be sure we will go again next year! It's a must for us!

Closed for rehab: 3/11/07 - 7/14/07

It is one of our fave restaurants and one we try to do each time we are at WDW... they do not take the DDE card, which annoys me, but I still eat there as we think it is quite good.

The DIS here is reporting that it's closed for rehab thru 8/20.

The other day, I read somewhere that said thru the end of August.

The rehab started later than originally scheduled (April 15th I think) so it won't reopen until later than originally scheduled. But when it reopens I'll go back for sure!! We ate there for the first time this April and it was the best dinner of our trip. Very good food and an entertaining experience with the chefs working right in front of us - the kids loved it too and because they saw the chef making everything they tried things that I'd never thought they would (like seaweed!). But it's not all exotic - there's beef & chicken & shrimp/lobster & veggies & rice. But it is all cooked japanese style so some people might not like that. And the "tables" are seats around the cooking surface with 8 places in all so 2 (or more) different parties can be seated together which is another thing that not all people like. But we loved the whole experience we'll definitely go back!

We had one of our worst experiences at this restaurant. There were 5 of us. We had ADR. They never called our name. We waited patiently as other families were escorted in. After almost an hour I went and asked politely about our seating time/wait. They had our name but they had not been pronouncing it correctly. Not even CLOSE. (Caldwell) I can not even print phonetically the way she had been saying it. There wasn't a correct phoneme in the bunch. Upon realizing the mistake, a young man walked up and would NOT seat us. Said he had no other openings. Now, that made me angry. The mistake was "honest" but to not accommodate us? That was ridiculous. So we left. Walked back to the BC in the rain, got drenched, walked right into Beaches and Cream. The waiter there brought us a free round of softdrinks and fries b/c of our bad experience.

My husband says if we ever go again we will sign in as "Cartwright". Only the Seinfeld fans will understand that!

MY FAVORITE!!! I enjoyed Teppanyaki so much last trip it became a must do..There have been posts that Disney Dining is taking ADR's starting 8/20 (I will be eating there 8/26) and can't wait to see what if any changes have been made.

Teppanyaki is the only dining experience I remember from my first Disney trip at the age of 3. I loved seeing them cook all the food on the table right in front of you. I've been several times since and it's a good restaurant. However, if you have Japanese steakhouses near your home (like Benihana), do not expect that Teppanyaki will offer you a different experience.

A similar thing happened to us the last time we went. The workers are all from Japan and they're a little difficult to understand at times. Luckily, we realized this and only waited about 20 minutes before accosting a hostess and getting a table.

Very cool stuff. My whole family (25 of us) have an ADR there on sept 3. Anyone have any idea what changes are being made? It is kind of neat that we will be going right after the renovation.

Thanks for all the input and I'd also be interested to find out if the rehab is anything special.

One of our absolute favorites. The food is great and it is a "not to miss" for us each time!!! :thumbsup2 :thumbsup2 I'm going in a month and am so disappointed it will be closed for rehab!!

We eaten there many times and liked it very much...even my best friend who swore she would not eat there but would sit with us decided to order a steak and she loved it!
