Does anyone have any pictures of the grill at Teppan Edo? How close do you sit to it? We have ressies to take my 3 young kids there (2, 5, & 7). I think they will enjoy the show and the bland type of food that is served, but will I have to watch them like a hawk the whole time? I think the 5 and 7 year old will be ok. They know not to touch something hot, but will the 2 year old be able to reach the hot part of the grill or is it too far away for a 2 year old's reach?

This is setup like any Japanes cook-at-your table restaurant. You can literally touch the cooking area from your seat. There is a 12" (approx) area around the grill that separates you from it. I don't have any pictures but they warn you when you are seated that the grill is very hot. The 2 year old would probably have to stand up on the chair, and partially climb on the table to reach the grill. I wouldn't worry about that aspect as long as you tell the kids about the grill and not to touch it in advance. The food isn't that bland either. I found everything to be satisfactory except that the staff was courteous but not overfriendly and they were a bit rushed. Hope this helps and have a great time!

When we went in Dec they asked that we put the kids on the end where it is further from the actual hot part. From watching them cook I believe only the very center is really hot. My kids are a 8,7,and 6 and I don't think they could have really reached it without standing on the table. So you should be good.

Here are a few pictures we took from Teppan Edo on our last trip:

The family we were seated with when we were there in January had a small child, about 2 or 3, and the hostess suggested seating him at the corner of the table so that he'd be further from the grill. I really don't think you have anything to worry about. The eating space is fairly roomy, wider than 12" I think because it didn't seem as crowded as other similar restaurants we've been to once the food was served, and a young child would probably have to be standing on his chair to reach the grill.

We also asked this question prior to the remodel but I'm sure the answer is the same:

Some of the cooks don't use the side burners at all so it's only warm on the ends anyway -however- if they see small kids on the ends, they will only turn up the center or shift to an end that doesn't have small kids at it just in case. They don't even turn the burners up until you sit down.
