Teppan Edo- worth it?

TE is our favorite. The food is good and plentiful. The presentation and staff interaction is fun and the decor really takes you into the experience. Coral Reef was a huge disappointment on our last trip. Slow inconsistent service, below average food and just a weird, dismal vibe.

Hello all!

Considering dropping Teppan Edo and doing Garden Grill- figure we have Japanese Steakhouses at home and can do that whenever. I'm sure since it's Disney, they do it better but think it would be more fun to do something we can do at home. Or is Teppan Edo totally awesome? Thoughts either way?

TIA!!

IMHO, it's a mistake to assume that Disney restaurants do something better than your local places do.

We're big Teppan Edo fans (it's our second favorite restaurant in World Showcase behind Via Napoli).

That being said, if you frequent a good Japanese hibachi steakhouse in your area, there are probably more interesting alternatives in World Showcase.

I'd also note that the quantity of food is on the small side for what you pay. But this works well for us because we typically eat two table service meals per day and don't want our lunch to ruin our dinner.

If your a hibachi fan or don't have one at home, it'll be nice. That said, we would skip it unless we had to find a place to eat as it's easy to get a last second or walk in there and we have used it to do this in the past.. They also take late after fireworks meal starts so it's a great way to eat late and have epcot all to yourself as you walk out after dinner.

We really enjoyed our last minute lunch at Teppan Edo this past Mothers Day. The food and service was excellent. Plus we enjoyed the show!

We tried this a few years back, liked it. It was fun and different than we would normally eat at home. That being said we have not returned, opted to try new things instead. It has not become a must do for us.

Teppan Edo is not as good as the local hibachi places here. They don't do fire tricks (liability concerns, I am sure), so it was basically the same jokes/tricks that they do locally without the fire. They also do noodles instead of fried rice, so there is a little less cooking at the table.

Teppan Edo is nothing special IMO. I can go to at least 4 different hibachi style restaurants at home that are just as good and cheaper. I aim for more unique experiences when I'm at WDW.

It has been years since I've eaten at GG, and I know they have changed the menu since then, but my meal there was pretty good. It was a slow day so we managed to see the characters multiple times even though we didn't linger around after we ate.

My husband really likes Teppan Edo so we will be going back. I liked my dinner too.I felt the portions were fine for us.

I would not make that assumption.

NOTE1: Hibachi tables seat eight (two each side, four front side). Sometimes they can
squeeze nine if several kids. Depending upon the chef it can be exciting and entertaining,
or it can be almost dull. Quality is below a Benihana, but above average for Japanese
cuisine. It should be noted that medium or large appetites will want to stop before or
after dinner for a snack, as portions are medium-sized and big eaters can leave hungry.
(Just to answer a common question, they only serve white rice, as fried rice is Chinese.
But, they have just started serving "beef rice", which is white rice with beef juice.)
.
NOTE2: We think the Benihana at the Hilton in the Downtown Disney Hotel District is better
than Teppan Edo for both food quality and "the show" the chef puts on.

We love Teppan Edo. In fact it's always the one restaurant that my son always asks me to make an ADR for. The food is good, the preparation is entertaining. I recommend it.
