Hello all!

Considering dropping Teppan Edo and doing Garden Grill- figure we have Japanese Steakhouses at home and can do that whenever. I'm sure since it's Disney, they do it better but think it would be more fun to do something we can do at home. Or is Teppan Edo totally awesome? Thoughts either way?

TIA!!

Teppan Edo is just like any other hibachi grill other than it being at WDW. My DW and I ate here on our last trip. Food was a C+/B- and atmosphere was a B. We have not eaten at Garden Grill (we are during our Sept. 2015 trip in a few weeks) so we can't compare the two.

If you would've said you don't have these types of restaurants at home, then I'd say definitely go for it....Here in North Jersey we have a few, all of which are better than T.E. IMHO...It was good in Disney but nothing different....food was average service the same.....

Like I said it's not horrible, so by any means you won't have a bad time, but if you can get that experience near you at home, then I'd save that ADR for something else....You mentioned GG...Go for that if that's what you were thinking. Either route enjoy!

You both confirmed my thoughts- we should def try something different!! :) Just booked Garden Grill. We already have reservations for Coral Reef. If you have another TS recc for Epcot though, would love to hear it! Thanks again.

We don't have a Hibachi place too near us, so for us it's worth it. But since you have one close to home I'd say chose Garden Grill.

Our chef added a few "Disney touches" like pouring the oil into a Mickey head, making the shrimp sing A Whole New World, but nothing major. Plus the chefs at the other stations around us didn't seem to even do that so... Obviously only you can chose but I'd say Garden Grill is more "Disney".

It's a fun but canned experience with good, not great, food. The meal is over fairly quickly. You'll feel like a mark, but a relatively contented one, and plenty of other Disney restaurants feel just as fakely hospitable for a fast-as-possible buck.

I enjoyed TE, but as others have said, it's standard hibachi. That being said, I have heard mostly but average/below average reviews for Garden Grill as well. :-\

Via Napoli always gets great reviews on here, & this place has never disappointed in our 3 times eating here.

We did like TOKYO Dining upstairs, which was unique.

And also if you like meats, I really like Biergarten a lot...It's very festive, and a fun experience with loads of meats... My DW & Ds aren't huge meat eaters, so this ADR was lost on them.

After seeing all of the other wonderful choices available in the area and the fact that we have similar restaurants at home, I decided not to make a reservation. I think my kids would enjoy it but I'd like to try other things this trip.

Epcot is the one place that has sooo many choices, that you can try a bunch of different ones and in a few trips, still not re-visit the same ones..

Remember there are TS in Future world, a ton in WS, then some on the Boardwalk/BC/YC & finally some awesome TS in the Swolphin....too

Teppan Edo is a must do for us most trips. It is better than anything near us at home. But if you have hibachis near you I would go somewhere else.

I agree with Other posters, TE is good but nothing special and if you have similar places at home, you may want to go with something different. You made the right decision to go with Garden Grill. As for another recommendation, I would recommend La Hacienda, it has fantastic Mexican Food and a view of Illuminations if you go later.

We have several hibachi places near us like Benihana and I still say TE is better and more excellent. Also, this is the 15 kazillionth thread regarding this on here. Just do a search and you will find plenty other threads that will answer your question. :)

We go back to Teppan Edo on many trips... and each time I say that I miss the fried rice that we get at the hibachi restaurants back home. We also say that we like the hibachi better at home... but still we return often. Go figure.

We thought Teppan Edo wasn't as good as any Benihana we have been to. I wouldn't go again. I would consider Tokyo Dining. Their sushi was really pretty good; however, they don't have a show. I haven't done GG, but the food looks decent, and it's got characters. I think there are so many other places to try at Epcot, that a place has to be fantastic for me to want to repeat it.

"Worth" is a personal value judgement and is difficult to take someone else's decision on. We have a Benihani's about 2 hours away from us at about 2 times the price so for us so TE is worth it fo us and has become something of a tradition to hit on the first night we are there. It's the only place (other than V&A) where I'll eat the mushrooms because of the white sauce that I dip them into. I love sake and especially cloudy sake which is hard to find at home so we always enjoy our time there. Whether or not you will is entirely up to you.

I think the food at Teppan Edo is on-par with (or slightly below) most local Japanese hibachi houses that I've been to. Where I've found they shine is their service. We have had truly incredible "Disney magic" service here. Example: We went for lunch on an anniversary trip. I had our anniversary celebration button pinned to my bag. Our waiter noticed and when they brought out dessert, he had me close my eyes, presented my husband with an origami paper engagement ring he'd made and had him put it on my finger. It was very sweet that they joined in our celebration!

Te is a must for us. It's way better than the hibachis we've tried around us. I'd definitely choos te over coral reef unless you are going for the aquarium. Te is probably a top 5 restaurant for us at Disney.

GG is surprisingly good for food, we've returned several times. Plus, we think it's the best for character interaction and time spent with characters of all the choices. The family style service is very good and relaxing. The beef and turkey is delicious as is the salad. We also love the mac and cheese, probably stouffers, but still a treat to us! Give it a try!
