Teppan edo vs Tokyo dining

I have heard good reviews about both of these restaurants but I want to know what the general consensus is, which restaurant is better and why?

I am kind of confused why Japan has two sit down restaurants so can someone explain to me what the difference between the two is as well.

Tepan Edo is Hibachi. Tokyo Dining is Tempura. You can get the sushi menu at either.

IMO, it really depends on what you can get locally. For example, we can get really really good sushi and tempura locally, but our hibachi kinda stinks. (At least in comparison to Disney.) I just tried Tokyo the other week and while I thought it was good, I can get better here, so I'd much rather go to Tepan Edo.

Teppan Edo is a Bennihana's style place where they cook the food on a grill in front of you whereas Tokyo Dining focuses on sushi and tempura. I haven't been to either yet (going to TD in March!) so I can't tell you which is better.

We ate at both on our last trip, and we definitely preferred Teppan Edo.

tokyo dining is one of my favorite restaurants in disney. it's more than just sushi and tempura though those are both available. it has slightly fancier, more adult entrees in my opinion than the benihana style stuff which is usually just meat, veggies, and rice in a generic asian-style brown style sauce. (it still tastes good, just not authentic asian food at all and kind of available everywhere).

that said, you can't beat the entertainment factor of teppanyaki if you're looking for that. great for kids. tokyo dining is a bit better if you're looking for a more intimate, adult experience.

we've got an asian restaurant that delivers the best sushi and tempura and there a teppanyaki place right down the street and bennihana is about 40 minutes away.. guess i'll pass on those and go to chefs de france instead next week it'll be somewhere different
