PLEASE PLEASE HELP!!! I was on Youtube looking up Disney Resturaunts. All of a sudden a video of The Wave pops up. I want to know which one to do for lunch. I know Teppan Edo is Jappenesse, and I like the whole cooking at your table concept. But after I saw the wave and just walking into it, I was blown away. I want to know from other DISers which one you would prefer. Thanks!

I chose The Wave. The concept is something i have never had the opportunity to try and so i am looking forward to my ADR. For me the Teppan Edo concept is something i have expieranced outside Disney.

I'd also choose The Wave. There are plenty of Japanese steakhouses outside of WDW.

I havn't heard much good about The Wave yet, probably because its new.
I know Teppan Edo is great though, we've eaten there before :) Only issue i'd see is eating there for lunch as it isn't a quick meal (although you don't need to leave the park).

can you explain what the food philosophy is? I haven't heard about this restaurant and am curious about their concept.

I might be mistaken but I thought that they were serving purely local foods, which is an amazing feat in the culinary world.

We are great Teppan Edo fans, and go every trip. Tried the Wave in July, nice, and we liked it, but would not rise to our must do every trip. We were treated beautifully, and the desserts were special, but still find TE more fine dining.

We have done both, and I voted Teppan Edo. It is a great Teppenyaki style place. The Wave was just ok. As far as having local menu items, one of the specials was Alaskan halibut when we were there, so I don't think that is the case. Also, the waiting area/bar is very pretty, but we sat in the back of the restaurant, which appears it can be closed off for private parties. My DH remarked that it looked more wedding banquet hall-ish than a trendy eatery.

I'm assuming though that the halibut is a sustainable fish. I guess it's not just about local but about natural and environmentally friendly harvesting practices. Taking a look at the menu, you do see lots of local ingredients, sustainable foods, ingredients that are in season, etc.

The Wave uses mostly if not all locally grown and organic produce. They have organic beers, organic vodkas, etc., and are more of an "environmentally friendly" restaurant (i.e. the sustainable fish as noted above). They are going for fresh and trendy, high flavors without high complexity in ingredients. We had a fabulous breakfast there and lunch was good too. The chicken salad had thigh meat (dark meat) instead of the normal grilled chicken breast that one would expect - that was a disappointment for my wife. Their desserts are great and their coffee is outstanding!! Only they and V&As serve their brand of coffee. Needless to say, I voted for the Wave. I agree that Teppen Edo is something you can experience outside of WDW.

this is also a part of this new restaurant trend - these "eco-restaurants" serve all cuts of meat, (not just portions like the breast), to show that they are not being wasteful, and using the whole animal.

I agree with the concept, but they should point it out on the menu

I love Teppan Edo. It's a must do place every trip. Never been to the Wave but I did look at the menu. Nothing seemed particularly exciting.
