Teppan Edo? Average to good?

Teppan Edo is a little below average for me when it comes to hibachi. Most Benihanas are average and better. I liked the sushi that came from Tokyo Dining. You can order some items at Teppan Edo that are on the Tokyo Dining menu. Probably shared kitchen though. The sushi wasn't fabulous, but it was really solid. I would like to actually eat at Tokyo Dining sometime. We don't really have a hibachi place nearby. I really want to try Biergarten, but our picky son would only maybe eat the pretzel rolls and butter. At least he has good taste in bread.

Very good - we’ve always enjoyed the experience… and hibachi places are hard to find around here :-)

I keep seeing people saying that it’s almost double the price of their local places? Their menu lists everything in the $30-40 range. Your local hibachi places are $15-20!? Not meant as snark, seriously sign us up! I don’t find the pricing to be crazy compared to our local places ¯\_(ツ)_/¯
OP we enjoy hibachi both at home and in Disney. We love teppan edo! Agree with others that our local places are probably better but we still enjoy Teppan edo and think you would too. It’s a fun experience with decent food which seems to be your expectation.

We ate at Teppan Edo for the first time last month, we really enjoyed our experience and the food was good. The CM's were fun and our chef made not only an onion volcano, but a large onion Mickey on the grill. Ha
It was a standard hibachi meal flavor profile wise, but a good one and fun experience none the less.
If we based not eating at places on what restaurants we have in our city, we wouldn't be eating at WDW. We have more restaurants in our city than any other in the country. LOL1 Onion Mickey.jpg

DW and I have been twice and while we obviously enjoyed it enough the first time to go back, it is not in any way something we would make a point to do every trip. First of all, we have several local hibachi places that we can dine at and we do like most of our Disney dining experiences to be at least somewhat more unique, relatively speaking, though obviously you can always find a comparison if you try. Secondly, I think this really depends on the chef.

The second time we went was last March just before the shutdown. It was an extended family trip with DW, DD, and myself, and my sister, BiL, niece and nephew, and my mom, so 8 of us in total. With that size group we obviously had a table to ourselves and the chef prepared everything well, there were no complaints about the food itself. But my niece and nephew had been to a local hibachi for the first time just a few months prior and so we thought this would be especially fun for them since they loved that experience. The "performance" part of the meal was what was a bit lacking. The chef was good but I don't know if she was new and a bit inexperienced or with all of the Covid news at the time if she was just a bit sidetracked, but the showmanship was definitely not as good as the first time or some of our local experiences.

It seems that you have the right mindset going in and based on that I don't think you'll be disappointed. My family and I are more than willing to go again but it will probably be a while before we do all the same.

I was thinking the exact same thing. They are in the 30 range for a chicken/shrimp combo by me for example. Which is why though it's one of my favorite types of places, I almost never go. This is why I'm very excited to "splurge" (but not really) to go to it on my upcoming trip :)
