What is the difference between the two restaurants? My husband and I thought we would like to try the part where the chef grills the food in front of you - which one would that be?

Thanks

That's Teppan Edo,
the other is just a counter service with meat and rice bowls and such.

Tappen Edo is good but no different from any other Japanese place that has hibachi. (When they cook in front of you.) We went in Dec ad I don't think I would go again over the more unique options that exist.

Thanks for the tip. We don't have a Japanese hibachi dining option near where we live though.

Teppan Edo is the hibachi grill restaurant. Tokyo Dining is not a counter service restaurant. It has tempura (coated with Japanese breading and deep fried) table service choices with the same appetizers, sushi, and desserts as offered at Teppan Edo. The counter service operation in Japan is Yakitori House.

That said, Teppan Edo is a lot of fun for children. We've eaten at Teppan Edo and at a local hibachi grill restaurant. You're usually seated as part of a group of six or eight around the grill, so you have to enjoy dining with others (unless your group is large enough to fill a table/grill). Our children (now in their mid-30s, so this goes back a long way) still remember their outing to the previous hibachi grill restaurant in Japan when we lunched there back in the early 1980s. A few weeks ago, we ate at a local hibachi grill restaurant and were seated at a table with a family of five. The children has a wonderful time. As long as you can work around any food allergy issues, dining at Teppan Edo is definitely a worthwhile experience for both adults and children. There's such a variety of food served during the meal that most children and adults can find something they'll enjoy. The interaction with the chef is really great.
