This is our first time on DDP and so our first time eating at any TS. We made all our ADRs and now DH and I are second guessing Coral Reef. While we get more for our money at Coral Reef, we would both really like to try Teppan Edo. My only concern is that it might not be the best restaurant to bring DD to. She will be 2-3 mos (depending on when she decides she's ready to come out). I'm concerned with sitting close to the grill that there might be splattering issues or flying food, or that they just might frown upon having a baby so small with us. We will have the option of me wearing her in a sling or we can bring the infant seat with us and put it on a chair, I'm not sure how they'd feel about that either since the 18% gratuity isn't automatically added with only 3 of us. Most of our reservations are for a party of more than 6, so since the tip will be so much bigger, I don't worry about taking an extra seat for baby. IL's don't like Japanese food so don't want to come w/ us here. Which do you think would be the best option? Wearing baby, infant seat, or keeping ADR at Coral Reef? Thanks!

I'll answer in this way... kids are everywhere at WDW... Teppan Edo is no exception. I am a lot larger than an infant, and I never was hit with food, or spatter... if you wanna try it, go for it.

i took ds to our local hibachi style restaurant when he was 2mos old and it was fine... they allowed me to bring the stroller up beside me w/the infant seat in it... he didn't get hit by anything and the fact that all the food is already cut up for you makes eating w/one hand a breeze! we enjoyed it with him :)

coral reef is also awesome... as far as menu and experience go, it would be a toss-up for me... but i'd likely go w/TE just to get some alone time w/dh and away from the ils (we went last year w/inlaws/outlaws/etc and i was sorry that we didn't plan any time for just our immediate family)...

I have eaten at hibachi-style restaurants MANY times and never even seen anyone get hit with food, unless it was a shrimp tail that was intentionally tossed at them! You really aren't close enough to the grill to get spattered either. We took both our sons when they were babies and had no problems, in fact, they seemed very entertained by it.

And the one of the best things about dining at WDW is that you never need to worry about being frowned upon for bringing your children to park restaurants. Enjoy Teppan Edo with your baby!!

We've been taking DD to our local Hibachi style restaurant since she was a teeny little peanut, and I definitely wouldn't worry about her being harmed.

i haven't eatin at teppan edo with an infant but have eatin at similar places around my home with a 1-2 month old and every thing was fine. he slept in his car seat the whole time and was alot more managable then the 19 month old we had with us.if you are worried about splatter which doesn't really happen you can always move the shade so its covering them.

Thank you! I've never been to a restaurant like that, so I wasn't sure what to expect. I think I'm going to go ahead and make us an ADR for 3 :).
