Just read a post by Minnie's Pal and it got me thinking...
IS May too hot to tent? I've never been to FL that time of year. All I know is I don't want to do autumn again due to hurricane season!!! (we had to ride out Jeanne this past September).
We are planning a trip in May of '06, and it would be tenting. Are we nuts?!!

Would love to hear from all you experienced FW folks!
Thanks!!

Not "hot" but what I would call "Warm" in May, (but I’ve lived in Florida my whole life). As long as you have an electric fan for the day time and to get the tent cooled down once the sun goes down, it should be good sleeping weather.

The only uncomfortable time is if you’re in your tent during the afternoon showers. Without the windows open, it will get hot in the tent.

I guess it would have to depend on your "threshold of pain". May in FL is typically in the 80's and with the daily afternoon rain showers (you can set your watch to 3 pm every day they're so reliable :D ), you might be a bit uncomfortable. Camping is always an adventure though. Give it a shot and make sure you post how it went.

We have been in May several times and it is rather warm but the thunder showers would be my biggest concern. We had a tornado one of those times. Luckly we were staying at the Caribean Beach Resort and not camping that trip.

May is usually OK but bringing a fan for circulation would be a good idea.

I live in Florida and we went for a week in May 2003. There was some kind of VERY annoying bug not a mosquito... more something in the fly family that had invaded the campgrounds and other resorts. They were spraying but that did little. It was driving workers and everyone crazy and it was a sting when they bit you. Anyway, I think it was some kind of thing that only comes out every 7 years or so. I mean I lived in Florida all my life and had never ever seen this before.
