Tentative HHN Dates

I just got off the phone with resort reservations and before I hung up, I thought I would ask (yet again) if there is any news on the HHN dates. The very polite TM with a lovely British accent told me to hold on because she recalls seeing something on their bulletin board. My understanding is that the bulletin board is electronic on their computers. She told me that these dates are tentative - October 2, 3, 9, 10, 16,17,18, 23, 24, 25, 29, 30, 31.
I asked her to repeat the dates twice while I wrote them down. Either, Universal is planning big cutbacks for the event (which makes absolutely no sense considring it's popularity) or they will be adding dates. The tentative schedule only has 13 dates while last year's schedule had 21 dates. I think the last weekend in September will be added (my personal hope) as well as extra dates in between.

I can't see Universal cutting HHN dates at all.
It is a holiday weekend. Having HHN for only Friday and Saturday doesn't make sense. This hard ticket is a money maker for them.

We just have to wait until Universal releases the official dates.
It will be out this summer.
As of now, none of us really know the HHN dates.

I book for the 2nd or 3rd weekend to be on the safe side so I can go multiple nights in a row.

The first weekend HHN is on, covers the Friday and Saturday based on past years.

I decided to err on the side of caution and booked rooms for the last weekend in September and the first weekend in October also. (I wish I could stay for a full week!) I hate tying up the money for the extra one night room charge but I do not want to risk the suite upgrade being booked by the time the dates are released. In the meantime, I await summer and the official release of the dates so I know when to book airfare! I know you will be posting as soon as the dates are officially released!!! I enjoy reading your posts leading up to HHN. While I love HHN, you really, really lovvvvvvvveeeeeeeee HHN and your excitement is absolutely contagious! And thank you for all the insight you provide regarding the event!

I can't see Universal cutting HHN dates for that second weekend at all.

Yeah...there is too much money to lose by Universal cutting dates. I still think HHN will start at the end of September as usual.

I'm still thinking (or hoping) that too. I've already got that last weekend in Sept. blocked out on my calendar.

Mac...you know I do. ;)

I can always count on Metro.
He'll be there every time the doors open with his FFP.

He is another addict like me to HHN.

we both are totally and completely addicted to HHN.........

and that's a good thing

I really REALLY hope they do the last weekend of September. I'm stuck going there the week before because of a friend's school vacation. We will all be so disappointed if we can't make the opening night.

Can you help a first timer? Do they have HHN at the studios only or is it in both parks?

Thank you

HHN is only at the studios.

There were a couple of years they used both parks.
Also, a year where only at IOA. (I'm thinking it was 2003 for that one.)

I doubt it will leave the studio side again.

There is more room there for the event.

I hope that you and Disneyhappy get to see HHN.
It would be great if HHN would start end of September so you both can go to it.

One year, back in 98, I miss- judged the dates and missed out on HHN.
I had booked air and room for myself and son and it was way too expensive to add nights to the room and change the flight dates. The penalties for the air were too great.

I was totally bummed out..............so I do understand the disappointment you both will have if September is not on the calendar for HHN.

Disneyhappy, that is one way to insure you will be at HHN.
The only decent thing about doing that is you are guaranteed a room on site.
The do go fast for some dates.

You can still get some decent air if you book early June for the trip.

Once you know when HHN will happen, you can cancel out the one weekend hotel ressie.

The credit you will receive back on your cc can go for the extra nights at the onsite hotel.

I booked January. I tried PBH for the free platinum upgrade for a suite.
No suites were available for my time period, already booked up there.
Made the ressie for RPH and do have the free upgrade for a suite there.

I'm sure this will be the longest wait for both of you until the calendar is released for HHN dates.

This is a LLLOOONNNGGG wait. I keep checking every day. The thing that really kinda irritates me about this is that I have not control over the dates. In 2007 we went to WDW with these friends. At that time, they wanted to go to HHN. Since there is so much to do at WDW on your first trip, we decided against it. I suggested that we wait and go again in 2 years, the next time they could, and do an all Universal vacation. We were going to go to see HHN for the most part. Then DFW said she didn't want to miss school. I said OK, her break was for the opening night of HHN, I thought. Now I'm not so sure, and am chomping at the bit, so to speak.

When will they set these as final dates?

That is the problem.
It is still winter time, no one has the dates yet for HHN.

When someone finds out, you can be sure it will be posted in the UO forums.

Rumors usually start in the springtime.
(late April, early May perhaps.)

We won't know the dates until summer.

Would you ever consider doing a solo trip?

It's not that bad, really.

I started doing solo trips to the motherland and darkside in 04.
Best decision I have made...........

Hook with homies you have met on the threads, share a ride, drink or food and you are set to go!

I have done the houses/HHN solo before I met up with some of the homies on UO threads.

My wish and desire to attend HHN, outweighed finding others to go with.
It was either go solo or sit home and whine..........

I would LOVE to do a solo trip, but DH and I have a pact not to vacation apart. We work together in our own business, so that makes it harder to get away. We also have lots of friends and family that we have promised vacations to, so we rarely vacation alone. I guess that comes with being DINKS and having forward friends that ask to go with us. That and my innate inability to say No.

I'm sure we will go to US at that time of year at some point in the next 2 years, but my DF wanted to go so badly, just like me. This is the last vacation we will take with them for at least 3 years.

I know I'm rambling. I just have to go ahead and make a ressie for DH and I. That doesn't make the waiting any easier. This year, I'm just stuck.

I can't believe we're talking about HHN when it's only March 1st :rotfl2: ... mind you, hubby and I have been discussing this year's HHN for a few years now :rolleyes1

And I agree with Mac - I can't see them cutting back the nights for HHN when it's a HUGE money maker for them locally - never mind those of us that travel from far away to be there
