Tent camping - security

Hello all you Disney campers!

I am thinking about tent camping at FW. I will be alone. I was wondering about the security at FW. Is it safe to leave things at your campsite, or do you need to lock everything in your vehicle?

It's pretty safe, I just wouldn't leave anything of value out in plain sight. Laptops, camera's etc. I would lock in the car out of sight.

Thats true,,the Fort is a reasonable safe place. But I wouldn't ANYTHING to chance,,I'd lock up ANYTHING I didnt want to walk away.
I mean, after all,,even rift-raft are permitted to camp at Disney.

DH put a small lock on the zipper of our tent. I pointed out that if someone wanted to steal our old (a couple were decades old) sleeping bags and kids' dirty clothes, that was fine with me. We didn't use the lock again. Valuables (not that we have any) were locked in our vehicle. I found it to be pretty safe.

Forgot to mention,,at the front desk you can get a security box for free to hold small valuable,,cash,tics, paper work,cards, jewels, etc.

I wouldn't worry about the locks on the tent zippers. I realized that if they really wanted something they would just cut the tent, then the stuff would be gone and my tent would be ruined.

I brought a plastic locking trunk that stayed in my tent. The trunk was locked and it so happened that I had an opening in my tent that allowed me to lock that trunk to a tree with a cable.

Truly valuable stuff such as money, credit cards, camera, phone, etc. stayed on my person. Clothes, chairs, bedding, extension cords, etc., if somebody wanted it that bad, so be it.

Be sure to lock your bikes if you take them. We had ours stolen from the marina on the last day of our trip. We had locked them every day until then, and just thought they would be ok. Didn't let it ruin our Magical Vacation though!
