Wow I just learned there were several campgrounds near DL.
Any campground better for a tent? we will have a car so transportation not an issue and just read there are shuttles to Disney, that would save on parking if necessary.
We are thinking of a week in August to go so I know the weather will be fine. We usually camp for 2 weeks in San Diego but maybe we'll shuffle this year.
How far in advance should sites be booked?
Thanks for any and all help.
Wendy

We have a RV and have stayed in and around Disneyland many times in it. I'm sorry to tell you I have not seen any tent camping in that area. However, there are camp grounds in the beach areas that allow tents. Your drive will be further, but you can still tent camp. (The RV Park that was the easiest walk to DLR, on Ball Road has closed according to the Anaheim newspaper.):tink:

Thanks for the reply.
Does anyone else tent camp near Disney?:hippie:
I prefer to spend less money on accomodations so we have more to spend in the parks. Also find for the little time we spend whether its a campground or motel room that I'd rather camp. It's strictly to sleep and shower, no cooking.
And there's no TV.:happytv:

Just found out that Orangeland RV Park does not allow Tents,

Sorry

Of course I stay at KOA's all the time.
Now why didn't I think of looking for one nearby.
Thank you Ruthie

And thank you Goofster for the info.
Well it didn't take long to find out I really NEED an RV. Kidding I like my tent and saving money.
edit I just looked at the map for Anahiem Park and I see tent spots marked.

endy,
I have stayed at two campgrounds at Disneyland. One was on Ball rod and the other on Harbor. I know for a fact that they have tent camping at Anaheim Harbor. We prefer to stay there. They only have like 5 spots for tent campers and they are right next to the rest rooms. The nice thing about this campground is that it is really quiet. I don't know about staying at the KOA because it is a little far and you have to think about the traffic you would fight everyday.

Hope this helps.

Does anyone know how long a drive it would be from the
KOA to Disney?
Trying to decide between it and the harbour one. Really don't want to spend a hour driving each day if we don't have to.
Thank you
Edited - just called and booked a spot at Anahiem harbour RV. They only have 2 tent sites now and I got one. They also have a daily shuttle for $3 return over age 9. Of course mine is 10 so adult prices all the way this year.

I think you are going to be happy there. Let me just give you a heads up... This campground is not like a KOA. It is very simple. It does what it needs to do. Provide a place to stay, good bathrooms, laundry, and a pool. We spend most of our time at the park, so we didn't have to have alot of extras. We are planning on staying there again the first week in June.

Thanks encmerk
All we need is a safe place to sleep and a shower in the morning. We're not at all fussy and are only there to sleep. And if we happen to have time for the pool thats a bonus. Thanks for letting me know about it.
My DS10 had to get Disney Crocs at the mall today. I had never seen them before.

We saw the disney crocs at DCA last month. My DD liked the purple and pink pair. I hope you got a better deal than you can get there.:) In regards to the campground we have bever been in the pool. We have always been to busy doing other things. I hope you have a good trip.
