Our Spring Break was April 3-10 this year. I sprung for APs for DS and I thinking we would get our monies worth if we made it back the week after Christmas and Spring Break next year. Well, Friday I called the school administration bldg to find out when next year's Spring Break was and I found out it starts April 4! I do not like to take DS out of school but now I'm thinking of going ahead and doing it next year in order to get one more trip on the APs in! He will be in the 7th grade. I was thinking of going Feb 18-26. They do not have school on Feb 18th (teacher workshop day) or Monday Feb 21 (President's Day) so he would be missing 4 days of school.
I have a dome tent, and went out today and got the Ozark Trail queen double thick air mattress. I would be bringing an electric blanket.
Has anybody else tent camped in February and what was your experience?
Is there anything else I should consider bringing?
I love Fort Wilderness and can hardly wait to get back!:Pinkbounc

My DF and I went tent camping Feb or 2001 and it really wasn't all that bad. We had an electric space heater and only used it for the first couple of nights. The nights got kind of cool, but with 6 of us in a huge three room dome tent, it was comfortable. Plus the fact that the sunny days heated up our tent and with the rain fly on trapped that heat in. Word of warning though.....if you get a site that is close to the lagoon, the Electrical Water parade floats by Ft. Wilderness aroung 9:45 or so and it is pretty loud. We drove 16 hrs straight to get there and were pretty worn out and hit the sack around 8:30 or so. When that calliope (sp?) music form the paraqde hit us, it was like someone set up speakers right outside of our tents. We all woke up almost having heart attacks. But we were used to it from there on.

DJBouce, We come from Ohio. I take 2 days to get down there. We stop in Columbia, SC the first day then get to FW the 2nd. That way we get there around 4-5 PM and I can set up the tent in day light.
We know about the noise from the Electrical Water Parade!:D We always request a site close to the Meadows.
Thanks for your response!
