Ok .... right now, I have the 2000 loop listed as my preferred choice on my reservation. Now, I am wondering if I should change.

I know the 1500 is closer to the everything but I have a cart, does it really matter. How long by cart does it take from the 2000 to the pool?

Are the 1500 sites smaller than the 2000? I have an 18x10 tent + a 12x12 Easy Up. Should I be leaning toward one loop over the other?

If I was in the 1500 loop, would I need a cart?

As all of us 'planners' do, we want everything to be perfect. I don't want to regret my preferences. I they move me one place or another at check in because of whatever, I can live with that, it's just my preference.

The size of the tent pads is smaller in 1500. Also in 1500, the grill is "inside" the main tent pad, so may be an obstruction. There is one site in particular 1506 that also has a tree in a bad spot and is very narrow.

In 2000 the tent pads are larger, but mainly, the grill on all of the sites is off on its own little extra "wing" of the site. So the grill will not be in your way.

If you have a golf cart, then the location of 2000 is not a problem.

2020 is my favorite site. Right across the street from the comfort station. A nice sized tent pad and no dropoff from the edge of the tent area, so you can "stretch" the site a bit by putting the edges of your tents off the site.

Let me show you an example:

The back edges of the tents on the right are just on the outside of the site. The tent on the left is actually half on the site and half off.

Also here is a picture of 1517. This site might work for you if you really decide you want 1500. On this site the grill is in the back corner in behind the tent on the left.

18x10 & 12x12 is a alotta space requirement, and very similar to my set up from last May.....You could probably SQUEEZE it into something in the 1500, but you have a more comfortable set up in the 2000. And because 2000 is not "in the middle of all the action", its usually a little quieter and has less traffic going in and out of it. If you didnt have the golf cart, I give the SQUEEZING some consideration,...but with that convenience...why go through the hassle? Take the bigger site in the bigger loop and put that cart to good use!!!

I was going to post the same question so thanks. I think we'll stick with the 2000 but ask for one a little closer to the CS. We have 2 12x17 tents so we will need the largest sites available. I plan to get a GC, just can't get the 6 seater, we'll have to stick with FW GC. May have to split up, some on GC and some on bus. Thanks guys.

Thanks for the feedback. I just may stay with the 2000 preference that I have listed with my reservation. I do like the room and piece and quiet too. Can I actually request a specific site?

:thumbsup2 Carol, I just love the set ups that you have. I'll have to post my set up after our trip.

:woohoo:

The first time I stayed in Loop 2000 I told them I needed a large sand area and close to a comfort station. I got site 2020. The next time I requested Loop 2000 and requested to be near a comfort station. I "suggested" that 2020 fit my stuff perfectly, and voila I got the same site again.

I did this by sending a fax to the Ft. Wilderness site assigner 5 days before arrival.

The last time we camped at the Fort it was in the 2000 loop. We really did like it, and we were very near the CS. In our case we were also very near the Bus Stop, which meant close to the road, but after we had been there a couple of days we didn't even notice the traffic, and it was nice being so close to both the CS and the BS. I'll be posting some pictures as soon as my post count gets igh enough again.
