will be staying at in dvc studio room - for those who have brought tension rods to put up a privacy curtain between the bathroom and bed - what size tension rod do you recommend?

I would ask where you were staying (although I don't know the answer either). Some studio rooms are set up different than others. At Kidani, for example, the studio had a door to the bathroom and the sinks were inside with the tub/shower/toilet. So you wouldn't really have a place that needed a curtain. Other studios have the sinks outside the toilet/shower room.

I haven't seen a BLT studio other than the model a few years ago, and they remodeled as well I think, but at one time the BLT "bathroom" sink was in the kitchen! (Note - I don't think this is true anymore, but I'm not sure.)

I haven't stayed in that many studios, only SSR, Kidani & VWL I think, so I can't speak to the set up at all of them.

BLT sinks are now in the bathrooms, a tight squeeze but they have all been moved now I think.

You would need a shower curtain rod I would think (for a shower... not a tub) or the widest tension rod you can find. I would guess that the passage way opening from the kitchenette/hall to the room would have to be at least 36" wide.

There are actually two different places you could the curtain. You could put it parallel to the sink, as stated above, by the kitchenette.

I assume you are doing this to shield the bedroom from the light from the sink area in the morning or through the night?

It's always so interesting how people customize their rooms to suit specific needs!

we're staying at the boardwalk

Perhaps you really don't need a divider at BWV. Here is the layout of the studio, so you can decide:

Instead of a tension rod, you could use the 3m command hooks (the ones that are meant to come easily off!). Just put one on each side of the walkway and attach to your shower curtain or whatever you are bringing to hang. It's a lot more portable, and you don't really need to worry about such an exact size.

I have to ask, why would you need one?

Sometimes people like that so (for example) mom can get dressed somewhere while someone else is in the bathroom/shower and while others are still sleeping in the beds. Just to create a little privacy zone in a small room. Can be important as your opposite gender kids get a little older or if you are traveling with non-family members.

great idea! i think i will try that instead!

exactly!

I can't imagine sharing my room with someone who I'd need to hang a curtain to get privacy from!!! That's just so ridiculous to me. It's not unreasonable for a travel "pal" to simply stay in the bedroom area while another person is in the bathroom area dressing....or dress IN the darn bathroom. The day I bring a curtain to transform my dvc studio into a trailer park neighborhood is the day I decide to simply stay home!

I have a 13 year old so and an 11 year old daughter. Neither my husband or I are in the habit of being naked in front of the opposite gendered one. While I haven't had a need for the curtain thing since we have been staying in 1 BRs, I think it's totally reasonable. Sometimes the schedules just don't align in the morning when you are trying to get 4 people showered and out the door for rope drop, multiple people need to get dressed, someone needs to use the toilet, whatever. I hardly think it turns people that want to do it into some kind of lower class citizen as you are suggesting. If you don't see the need, great. Others may.

.And rushing to get to rope drop....nothing like starting your day with a lot of added anxiety.

Also be careful with the tension rod as these will eventually damage the walls since there's no plates to protect where the rubber caps will rub against the wall. Also if someone should accidentally pull it down it will create marks on the walls and possibly hurt someone. Since we all like the units to look nice and new for as long as possible, these may be a bad idea. Just my thought on it.

ouch! do we really need to go there?
just a simple request for information from people who have done it. i see no need for insults.

Wow!!! I can't imagine why the thought of someone bringing a rod/curtain to their studio with them is going to turn the place into a 'trailer park'!!! First of all...who the heck is going to see it??? Second of all...who cares???
I have traveled with others when staying at a DVC resort, in a studio. I will say that I shower and then put on fresh underwear in the shower area. My clothes are left on the vanity. I don't have an issue with someone catching a peek of me in my undies...that would be their issue. Image burned onto their eyeballs!!!
But, in all seriousness...the vanity area is large enough that you can change there.
Or, just bring those 3M hooks...I've used them in the past and they work very nicely. But, there are a few studios at BWV that you may have a really hard time hanging something across the opening!!! I had one such room. But, a queen or king sheet might fit that bill.
