Looking to stay at the Poly. DH is a tennis nut! Has anyone actually used ANY of the tennis facilities at WDW? Any info would be much appreciated!! :)

I know that the Contemporary resort has a raquet club, and so does the Grand Floridian, but I've never read about or seen any tennis courts at the Poly. Doesn't mean they don't have them, but just that I haven't seen any. I believe at the Poly they expect you to walk to the Grand Floridian to use their fitness center and spa, so the tennis courts may be the same way. I'm sure you could also take the monorail over to the Grand Floridian, although I don't know if it would be any shorter that way or not, depending on the location of the facilities.

Thanks for the response. Yes I know the Poly hasn't any tennis courts, but I REALLY want to stay there. Figured we could get a rental car and dh could drive over to CR. Just wanted to see if anyone used the courts over there. I guess he would need someone to hit with him since I DON'T play!

Well, maybe this was just me hearing and seeing something else, because it wasn't real clear from my patio, but I had a room right next to the raquet club at the CR, and I thought I saw people practicing by themselves against one of those boards on the wall there. So he may be able to do some practicing by himself, or I know they offered tennis lessons there, so the tennis pro may be able to play with him as well (although possible extra fee involved LOL).

Also, I feel the same way about the Poly. I would like to stay there, but I use a fitness center most days, and the Poly doesn't have that either. And I feel like it would probably seem kind of inconvenient to have to walk to the Grand Floridian or take the monorail to there or CR to use the fitness center. And for the kind of money we're paying for these resorts, we really shouldn't be having to trek to another resort for that. Not when resorts right outside the Disney gates offer fitness centers for about half the price LOL. And, actually, I think a fitness center really fits better into the theme of the Poly than the GF, as fitness centers are a part of life in Hawaii, but not in Victorian times LOL. Same thing for the tennis courts, really. But that's just my opinion... I can see how the spa services might be just as well suited for the GF though...
