Tender to Port-

Can anyone tell me what the tender process is like on DCL? I know on the Western we will have to tender at Grand Cayman, but I have heard that on other lines this can be a lengthy process, especially for people not doing ship sponsored excursions. Do you get tickets for the tender and is it first come first serve, or do you have to wait a long time? I have a fairly early excursion planned and just want to know what to expect time wise just to get to the island!

Thanks,
JMF

When DCL first started doing the 7-day Eastern trip (9/00), passengers had to tender in at St Maarten. But once the dock at St Maarten opened (2/01), this was no longer necessary. There might be some folks on here who took the 7-day Eastern between 9/00 and 2/01 who can answer. Anybody?

The tendering process was very efficient. There was a ramp off the front of deck one that led you down to a fairly good size passenger ferry that left you off at Bobby's Marina. It was about a 5 minute ride. The ramp did accomodate people in wheel chairs too. The tender ran back & forth all day, no longer than a 10 minute wait. DCL had a sun canopy up where you waited to board, with cold drinks ( punch and water I think ) while you waited.

I'm sure it will be just as efficient in Grand Cayman.

It sounds like the water taxi that they have now that you pay $5 for is the tender we had in 10/00 for free.

We'll be on the April 13th Magic for our 2nd cruise. Can't wait!!
