Ten pounds of overdone ham - what to do?

Mac & cheese pie with ham and broccolli

See thats how we always fix ours until it shreds off the bone. We put it in the crockpot with one cup of water and let it cooks until it just falls off.
Then we bake some Sister Shuberts yeast rolls and make ham rolls with some mashed potatoes and peas or green beens.

The ham is just Wonderful fixed like that.

Oooooo, I forgot how good Sister Shuberts yeast rolls are.... and I have some in the freezer....

Thanks!!

Babs

ham in pasta with alfredo sauce (either add broccoli, spinach, or peas)
ham and potato soup, split pea soup with ham
ham and swiss cheese quiche

When we have ham, I always freeze the leftovers in 1 cup portions in freezer bags. It easy to just take out the number of bags / cups later that I need for a recipe or an add-in to a dish.

ham and potato soup

Ham and pasta salad dish- (serve warm or cold)
Boil 1 box elbow macaroni
Mix 1 packette hidden valley ranch dressing according to directions.
In colander, put 1/2 pack frozen peas, and when elbows are done, pour over peas(blanches them)
Mix pasta and peas with ham and about 1/2-3/4 dressing. I love it warm, DH like s it cold. I also have added carrots.

Ham “Wreath

1C. fresh broccoli chopped (I use uncooked but can be streamed)
¼ c. Chopped parsley or 2 tbs. Flakes
2 tbs. Finely chopped onion
2 tbs. Prepared mustard
1 tbs. Butter
1 tsp. lemon juice
¾ c. shredded cheese (I use cheddar)
1 ¼ “ slice of Ham (or turkey) diced
1 8 oz. Can Pillsbury crescents (I find filling makes almost enough for 2 packages crescents)
Grated parmesan
Heat oven to 350. In large bowl combine parsley, onion, mustard, butter and lemon. Blend well-add cheese, broccoli and ham, mix. Separate crescents. Grease cookie sheet. Arrange crescent triangles, point out, leaving a 3” center opening. Spoon filling onto ring. Fold points over and tuck slightly. Sprinkle w/ parmesan. Bake 25-30 min

Could you ship it to Alabama? My mom always cooks her ham until it falls to pieces and we love it. We use the square Hawaiian bread rolls and put the ham on it. Everyone carries it for lunch until it is all gone. Good stuff! Good luck with it.

I haven't seen this one suggested. Take a whole bunch of green beans. If fresh or frozen, cook them all day with the ham. If canned, you don't have to have them cook all day, but at least a couple of hours with the ham. I am talking a big stew pan or crock pot worth of green beans. Add potatoes and let them cook through. Yum. We could eat these all summer long growing up. It is cheap and healthy.

All of these sound so good! Just a friendly warning not to eat too much ham in a week as it can cause your blood pressure to go really high (lots of salt). Just be sure to space it out a little.

Ham is fantastic added to mac and cheese, with a bit of cracker crumbs on the top, some butter sprinkled over it, and baked for abit in the oven. Yum! :goodvibes
