hi:D
i would like to try one of these places on my upcoming trip for a leisurely snack/meal . i have not been to any of the restaurants in japan. i would like to save Teppanyaki for my trip in dec with dd, so...which place would you suggest? i have seen the menus on Deb's site and both look good. has one got better atmosphere than the other?

thank you :D

Well, it kinda depends what you're looking for. Tempura Kiku is small, but it has the feel of a busy Japanese tempura shop. You sit at counters that surround the chefs as they prepare your meals (and often hand them to you, fresh and hot). The atmosphere isn't terribly exotic (although friends who have been to Japan say it's authentic), but the food is quite delicious and the service is friendly. Plus, it is reasonable by Disney standards, and has nice variety. The lounge on the other hand, is a good place to go if sushi is your thing. While not much to look at, the lounge offers a pretty decent variety of a la carte sushi (again, relatively reasonably priced). We have enjoyed the food at both places. Both are good for lunch...if you just want a snack, maybe get a small order of sushi at the lounge...While the Tempua Kiku has good appetizers (including sushi), it specializes in meals (including soup, salad, etc). Hope this helps!

thank you for the great descriptions whatisgoofy? :D i may need to try out both of these:D so...they are both indoors then? i have read about one exiting to a patio? could you eat on the patio as well, or are these both strictly indoors eating ? thanks:D

Both are inside. Matsunoma Lounge has windows facing the WS Lagoon, with great views if you have a window table. I love Matsunoma for an afternoon sushi snack!

Or try the Yakatori House in the evening for quick casual dining - one of my best recent memories is sitting outside last January watching Illuminations in the garden behind the restaurant with nobody else around..... Felt like my own private show!

We have also gotten the tempura appetizers and some rice for a small meal in the lounge bar too! :D It was really good! :smooth: MKY
