As someone who often gets free upgrades I would not pay. I'd just buy economy comfort seats at booking Deltas domestic first is not that good

I haven't flown Delta in a while, but I'm frequently upgraded for free on United and it's no big deal for short flights. Sometimes when I fly with my husband he has been upgraded and I have not and if we already have good Economy Plus seats, he has turned down the upgrade.
