We are thinking about taking a cruise in May of this year, but the posts about Covid cancellations are concerning. The policy states that you can get a refund if you "[h]ave had known exposure to a person with COVID-19 within the previous 14 days." How does one prove that (or any of the other circumstances like fever)? If the policy is as open as it seems, that does alleviate a lot of the concerns about losing money due to a positive (or possible positive) test.

Thanks. Just for certainty, the policy is all money back, not just moved to another cruise, correct?

You just call in and tell them you were exposed. Had to cancel 2 cruises on the dream last month. Our son caught covid and we were exposed. Refund to my citi card within a week.

I cancelled in January for this reason and no proof, or even a detailed explanation, was required at all. I just told them I had been exposed to a Covid positive family member. It was a quick phone call to cancel & my money was fully refunded in days. Disney doesn't want more Covid cases onboard, so they're being easy with the refunds now.

Piggy-back question:

If you are denied boarding due to testing positive are ALL monies refunded (including DCL insurance)?

Excluding insurance is my understanding. That has been purchased and presumably monies changed hands by embarkation; DCL doesn't have authority to refund it at that point.

Does the refund or move the cruise apply if you book a FL resident rate? Hoping to book for in May. Both DH and I had Covid just after New Years so the 90 recover will be past that point and are both vaccinated and boostered.

Has anyone had someone in their stateroom test positive or have Covid exposure within 14 days to cruise that doesn’t live with them? Were the others still allowed to cruise assuming they received a negative port test? Did Disney allow the refund for the affected quests and allow the other stateroom members to cruise?

If the people involved all traveled via the same transportation to the port, and one of them tests positive all others will also be denied boarding, regardless of a negative test.

Anyone denied boarding due to this has the option of a full refund, or a future cruise credit in the full amount paid.

If there are, say, 4 people on the reservation (same stateroom), arriving at the port via 2 separate modes of transportation, only those in the same vehicle are denied boarding, the other vehicle's occupants can board if testing negative.
