I don't think it will come back. I'm also not a pool person unless I'm at Aulani, so it doesn't really matter to me except for the extra traffic that would come with that. Maybe instead offer a day (of your choosing, not just the first day) at the water park.

I don't think so. There would be way too many people pool hopping to the same place.
It was mostly excluded for pool hopping. In 25 years I've never had any interest in pool hopping.

Can you imagine all of the VGF people going over to the Poly pools…. they’d riot!

There used to be a thing that if you wanted to pool hop, you called ahead to make sure there was enough space.

Wouldn't be much of an issue:

  • Pool hopping is not available at the following pools at any time—with no exceptions to this policy:
    • Bay Lake Tower at Disney's Contemporary Resort – Bay Cove Pool
    • Disney's Art of Animation Resort – pools
    • Disney’s Beach Club Villas – leisure pool
    • Disney’s Grand Floridian Resort & Spa – pools
    • Disney's Polynesian Village Resort – pools
    • Disney's Riviera Resort – pools
    • Disney’s Wilderness Lodge – pools
    • Disney's Yacht Club Resort and Disney’s Beach Club Resort – Stormalong Bay

Only monorail pools appear to be the standard contemporary pools.

The list of exclusions is actually pretty high...

I'm amazed these "temporarily suspended" pages are still active... Some, like the Garden View Tea Room appear to be coming back, but for many it seems like they're stuck in zombieland...

Honestly, before we were DVC owners--not ever being able to go to some of the fabulous pools around WDW was an obstacle to purchasing DVC. Back then the only DVC properties were OKW and then BWV (it took us 10 years to make up our minds. :) ) I think it was a pretty effective sales tool (in the way back time frame).

Funny thing is in 24 years of DVC ownership, we've never pool hopped. It was a big deal to us when our DS was younger, it was not so much after he was grown up. :) And secondly, it is different now with so many different DVC properties--I figure we can just book a stay at the resort with the fabulous pool if we wanted to experience it.

So, I would be surprised if they bring back pool hopping.

I don’t think this generation of DVCer will get to enjoy that ever… and there must be good reason for it.

My guess would be the size of the membership now.

Pools are already crowded at resorts so add in DVC and it makes it even worse.

The resorts I stay at were always excluded but I still am fine with them not offering this.

I hope it doesn't come back. My Treehouse Villa pool already has to contend with all the people from the SSR main resort! If the other resort people start busing in...well, that's just too many people.

Yes, totally agree with this reasoning. It was allowed in the earlier days at some of the DVC timeshare locations, when there were fewer resorts and fewer owners. It would be very difficult to allow it now, which is why it's likely not returning. The extent of our pool hopping interest is staying at Kidani and hopping to the Jambo pool (which is allowed!)! No need to jump in a car (or take 2 buses) to another resorts pool. If I want to swim in that pool, I'll grab a reservation for the resort.

The only "pool hopping" we have done in 15 years was 2 years ago,,,just wife and I trip. We were staying at Riveria, and went to AK for the day, we had a later Savana tour, so caught bus to AKL J and layed out by the pool. But just on the lounge chairs they have around on the outside of the pool, catch a quick mid day nap and some zebra domes from the gift shop. Dont think this qualifies, but never been interested in hopping, Wife wont even go to the water parks, so not spending time hopping to another pool.

I’ve never tried the PIT pool only tried the ones at PBV and it’s okay but I like the pools at VGF more. I could imagine the traffic going the other way instead.
