Temperature inside attractions

Been at WDW since Saturday... overall, I've noticed a lot less penny pinching with the return of customer-oriented CM attitude and tiny pluses compared to our April trip. But one BIG thing we're noticed is that everything is HOT - attractions, shops, restrooms. I'm used to visiting at various times of the year and one thing I ALWAYS pack in my park bag is a thin hoodie/sweater... some of the attractions can get downright chilly even in summer. This trip, we haven't needed it.

Standing in the TSMM line and sweating (granted I was sweating when I walked in the door due to heat/humidity but) - inside is at a temp where it would be "slightly warm but okay" if I was sedentary - it's too warm for folks popping in and out of 90* temps and standing in a packed crowd.

We just got off of ToT which was FAR worse. Packed into a sweaty, sticky library - and then literally stuck to my neighbor on the ride. It was 9:30AM, btw, so it's far from the heat of the day. We've commented on it being HOT inside a number of times over the past few days in places we're usually cool.

I'm guessing it's to save AC costs. The result? We're not browsing shops (no longer a cool respite,) and I'm ordering an app or a couple of sides in lieu of an entree. And no snacks. My food spend is the lowest this trip I can remember... Usually it's hot outside but you can cool down inside, but consistently so hot I have no appetite.

We're bailing for the hotel more quickly, too (where we nap or eat leftovers.)

Anyone else having the same experience?

I had read similar experiences before I went in July. I still decided to bring my long sleeved shirt but sure enough I never needed it. I never felt hot in the restaurants/attractions, I just didn't feel cold like usual.

The one time I absolutely noticed it and it was rough was taking a bus from AK to HS in the middle of the afternoon. While waiting for the bus all I could think of was how good that blast of cold air was going to feel when I took that first step onto the bus. Ughh, boy was I wrong! The bus was hot as could be, it felt hotter than outside because there seemed to be no air movement at all. It was a rough ride, I was soo happy to get off that bus and back outside to the 'nice' feel of 100+ degrees heading into HS.

Did you go to any of the TS restaurants? As I'm sitting at my work freezing my buns, I was wondering if the restaurants will be cold. If it gets too cold, I don't think I can eat in peace. I have tons of ADRs for November so I'm wondering if the restaurants will be cold. Thank you

I may be the only person that finds this good news. I hate AC and I live in Georgia where it's run about 7 months out of the year. I'm sitting at my desk at work right now with a sweater on. I always hated going from the heat outside to the freezing cold inside and having to carry a shawl or sweater around with me in the dead of summer because I'd freeze on the buses. I'm good with going from hot to less hot.

I could handle it not being ice cold... if it were cool. There's not even enough a/c in some attractions to cut the humidity (especially when you pile dozens of bodies in a small room.)

We have! Plaza was cold, TRex, Spice Road, Nine Dragons, and Be Our Guest have been okay. You're in there long enough (and sitting) that it was okay - but no sweater except for Plaza. QS have been warm, though.

I've went to WDW 3 times in summer and mostly didn't notice (except TOT, that was quite warm I must admit) QS locations are sadly never that cool, from all the door opening.

The award for best AC goes to the FEA queue. I didn't mind waiting the 45 minutes because it was the best AC on property lol

Thank you. I have to make sure to take jacket with me. I see that you went to T-Rex. I asked question about T-Rex in Dining thread. If you don't mind, could you visit that thread and give your opinion about it since this thread is not "dining" thread.

Absolutely. Let me see if I can find it :)

Happy to answer any other current questions as well.

Nope. We were just there last week and every ride we went on was blasting AC. The ONE area I felt was warm was the Dumbo circus play area. I felt that everywhere else was borderline chilly. I did not ride the rides OP mentioned though. All the shops I went into were too cold, IMO. But I wasn't complaining.

You aren't. I am very happy to no longer freeze but trust me, when I was there 2 weeks ago I still froze in most indoor locations. Or was comfortable. Never found it hot a single time.

We rode every thing at all parks, including those mentioned above and it wasn't hot inside them then. I may prefer it less than arctic levels but DH doesn't. He would have said it if was uncomfortable.

Weird. Maybe it's a recent change or anomaly, then. We've noticed it multiple times this week.

FWIW, we're at Beaches & Cream right now and it's lovely. Cool, but not so cold as to need a sweater.

We have gone at the end of August now for quite a few years and yes, I have noticed an uptick in the temperature inside attractions and shops and restaurants. The shops really surprise me. You would think they would want you to browse longer and buy more!

How is the AC in your hotel room (if you are staying onsite)?

You are not the only one. I usually carry a jacket everywhere during the summer also, especially the buses and restaurants. It would be nice to be a little warmer...I have found though that the back of the buses is warmer than the fronts in case other cold folks would like to know. But, to be honest I am cold all summer at home too in the AC and I live in NC.

I think a lot of it is purely subjective, based on what one person defines as "cold". My wife calls 75 cold. I don't like the brutal cold, which is why we moved out of PA, but I can tolerate it cooler than she can. We spent a long time at WDW this summer and we didn't really notice the rides any warmer than we've experienced in the past. Most of the queues were still great shelter from the heat/humidity. Pirates is one of our favorites...it's really dark and nice and cold.

I can't speak to WDW this summer, but on our last visit to US, there's a spot in the MiB queue where we got absolutely blasted with frigid air! There's a pre show room with two levels and a movie screen, but the queue starts further back. If you get stuck waiting near the door, look out!

we were there a few weeks ago and I really noticed it at Soarin'. In fact even though around us were fanning themselves while waiting in line. Usually I cool off in line, but I did not cool off until I was actually on the attraction. The queue area of Soarin was warm!

It's spotty, but that's based on how we set the temps. It was actually too cold on arrival - it's done fine if we adjust up/down as needed. (Pop Century.)

Klayfish - this is less subjective re my preference, and more a comparison to prior years...

Currently at WDW and my family and I noticed the same thing regarding the lack of AC. I'm usually cold so I haven't minded it as much but there have been several occasions that even being inside felt like little relief from the heat. I noticed it mostly on the attractions. We come around this time every year and I usually freeze on the rides. That has definitely not been the case this year.

I noticed this issue three years ago on a June visit, but I didn't notice it last June. It was so bad three years ago that I wrote Member Services an e-mail about it. They actually called me back and thanked me for my comments and seemed to take it seriously, but I guess it's becoming an issue again? Sigh.

This doesn't bode well for my upcoming (end of August) trip. I really need the air conditioning to work properly or I will be one miserable person.
