Finally got an answer after multiple emails. Expensive but okay in a cruch. We have the family plan so the minutes between the phones are free - but..... a buck a minute per phone plus another 50 cents a minute so $3 a minute. Like I said worth it in a crunch. When we are at HRH we are thinking of leaving sleeping kids DS12 and DD9 in the hotel room while we hit the Citywalk for a . This way we can leave the phone in the room preprogrammed incase anything happens. Nothing else is economically feasible for a short period of time.

I also have Telus...what I do is change my plan for a month to a north america plan and then after the month switch it back. Saves me a bundle in long distance and roaming charges.

Problem is that we are on the family plan and we would have to switch both phones so a cost of $150. Since we don't plan on using it tons, hopefully our bill will be a lot less than that.
