Tell us the ways to beat fast pass+

AHHH, okay, yeah.. See, i don't think in those terms so doing that never crossed my mind.. Basically, in my mind, at least three of my kiddos FP+ will go to waste during our trip, as they won't be able to ride EE, RnR and one will be too small for SpaceM. I just kinda figured okay, well, those days, we get FP for the headlines, do the baby swap and their slots go to waste.. Guess I'm just a bit more honest than others.. LOL

I haven't use rider switch that way either, but I do understand the temptation, especially with the current limits on FP+.

Is it really that huge of a difference if a family uses the rider swap to get around the tiers? Assuming it takes approximately 20-30 minutes to get each group through the FP+ line at Soarin'/TT, which is pretty realistic, they are still coming out behind compared to a family who can ride them both together but uses FP for only one.

Using waits we experienced on our recent visit, it took about an hour to get our entire party through Soarin' using FP+/RS, while the standby wait was 60 minutes. TT would be similar with about an hour to get everyone through if we used FP+/RS there. Realistically it's anywhere from 90 minutes to 2 hours to get 2 groups through TT and Soarin' once each. A family without too short children would take about 90 minutes at worst on the same kind of day to get their entire party through Soarin' and TT using FP+ for one and SB for the other (if they didn't ride at slow times of the day).

Actually, anyone in the DAS-holder's party can get the return time. The holder must be present when the group returns.

Yep. disabled person only has to be there for the return and ride. So basically, get one or two people in a party to get the DAS and then you have runners go set up return times for the group and essentially you have two additional loads of fast passes but in this case you will definitely get more than three fast passes a day for the group per each DAS patron.

Disney's website information, even before DAS rolled out, has included the fact that someone else ion the group can obtain a DAS Return Time.

Here's a thought...

What if you have friends who are AP holders. They have a previous stay onsite, so they have their APs attached to their Magic Bands. They will not be at WDW when you are there.

You could have them make FP+ reservations ahead of time (assuming they have the same amount of bands in their party as you). During the trip you borrow their bands, thus making 6 FP+ reservations per day.

(This assumes that you do not need to go through the turnstiles with the AP bands... right?)

That would work if you have people actually willing to risk you losing their bands. I would have a hard time loaning out my bands even though we have spares.

I remember still getting my finger scanned with my MB. Borrowing someone's band would have the same issues as borrowing their paper pass.

You don't need to 'activate'a magic band to redeem FPs. You can take in anyone's MB into the park and use FPs with it.

f you haven't done it yet, you might want to consider not making the link between your park passes and resort reservations. Keep your park tickets separate from all resort reservations and MDE accounts you may have.

This does mean you can't make advance FP+.

The valuable trade off is that it also means you can have as many sets of FPs as you have Magic Bands - plus a set of FPs on your park passes.

"To make FP+ selections at park kiosks, we recently used two sets of bands from months ago as well as a set from a resort stay that was still a week away at the time. You can also make a set on your park tickets at the kiosks. That gave us each 12 FPs every day from the park kiosks. Making different sets at different times of day brought up a variety of attractions (since people are constantly moving their FP times, making their times available -- for instance, you might well get a Toy Story Mania FP at a kiosk in the late afternoon when another guest has freed it up).

And if you want to park hop, you would use only one set of MBs at the first park and reserve others for the second park. (You can only get FPs from one park if your tickets are linked to your MDE).

For some people, keeping the park tickets separate from resort reservations might work best. You would also need to remember to make each resort reservation under a separate MDE account so that each set of bands is entitled to separate FP selections"

This would definitely work if you can keep track of it all.

I'm not sure why people get so bent out of shape when people mention getting multiple rides with Rider Swap. With the time it takes to get through the line twice, even with a FP+ instead of stand by, families with small children are hardly coming out ahead.

No kidding! We have gone all 3 trips w a baby. RS is both a life saver that makes getting on rides barely possible... and also sucks because you still spend twice as long doing the same ride as a non-baby-laden family.

If you don't have a baby, you don't know.

If you do have a baby, you should know and use RS.

If you are jealous of those who have a baby... you should go have a baby

Having a baby doesn't "help" anything. Especially for you. Without a baby, you and your wife could go on a ride together via FP. With a baby, one of you can go on via standby and then the other get on via RS (FP lane). You still spend a lot of time doing this!

The real benefit comes in for a family of say, 5. Mom, Dad, DS, DD, Baby. They rope drop Soarin, get a RS ticket. Mom goes with DS, DD. Dad stays with Baby. when they're done, now Dad goes. But because his ticket allows him to take 3 ppl on, he can take DS and DD with him when he rides via the FP lane.

So, net result, DD and DS got to ride twice. Now mind you, you still waited out the line twice, so really you haven't gained. It is a benefit all ppl with babies should utilize, and ppl w/o a baby should just ignore and be glad they have no baby and can focus on the rides.

One thing you can do is save that RS ticket for later in the day when the park is busy and go on other things right away. Little "benefits" like this.

Is rider swap just for people with small children. We have a special needs child with heart issues who we will not let ride the larger rides such as TOT or RNRC even though size wise she would be able to do so. In the past DW and I would take turns staying with DD elsewhere or DW would just skip the ride altogether If it were only the 3 of us.

I would think you should definitely qualify for rider swap. Just speak to the CM at the entrance to the ride and if they balk just ask for a leader.
