Tell us about your rig....

Some of my best camping memories with my family were when we camped in a 1978 Coleman pop up. I still have it in my driveway - not habitable any more, but can't seem to let go. I will convert it to a utility trailer this summer. It was replaced by another popup, which we traded in for our Kiwi a few years ago.

We just bought a "new to us" cedar creek tt, I would have bought a popup in a minute if it wasn't for traveling with our 8 yr. old beagle ( she wouldn't rest until she found a way out ). I love the open floor plans that the popups had at the camping show this yr. they have really come along ways. Our very first camper was a cox camper ( so small ) but we all piled in and had the best times. I have a picture of my dd sleeping with her feet hanging outside the camper ( priceless ). :goodvibes

We have an 1975 GMC Buffalo bus (with all the cargo storage underneath)that we gutted and made into our perfect home on wheels. We have up to 16 people that travel together down to WDW from way up north WI. We have plently of sleeping space, eating space, storage and a full bathroom. Only 8 of us actually stay in our motorhome. We have two sets of double bunks in the rear (the bottom can be made into a king size plus) A full kitchen with a full size fridge. Two dinettes and plenty of seating up front. We have entertainment centers in the front and the back (7 kids need to be entertained for our 30 hour drive).

We are heading to FW in March of 07 towing our 8 passenger club car. Keep your eyes open for the Disney Express

We are going to go to Lazy Days and hopefully trade it in for a "USED" at least 36' motorhome with at least one slide. Nothing trashy but nothing to highline. We just want to be able to take it to the NASCAR races. :teeth:
That's exactly what we want to do. Hoping to find a good "used" motorhome something 2-3 years old. The sticker shock on the new ones is alittle to much for me. After our May trip, we hope to do more travelling and DH is a Nascar fan so we'll do more races also. This year we're going to Atlanta, Talladega and Martinsville. Unfortunately I have to pick a new driver this year since Rusty retired - I see you are a Rusty fan also. Can't bring myself to throw my support behind the new #2. :sad2: :sad2:

We have a 32' 2001 Holiday Rambler Presidential FW. We absolutely love it. Before that we had a Coleman Niagra pop-up, and loved it too. The older we got, we needed something that was a little less work.

We have a 2006 45' Newell motorcoach. It has a Caterpillar C-15 Engine, 625 H.P. Diesel motor, Allison Transmission. Satellite Internet System,TracStar Satellite TV System, King size bed,Rear Master Bath with Granite Shower,52” H.D.T.V. Plasma TV in front and a 32” TV in bed room. This is a down upgrade from our popup,But we still like it. :thumbsup2

Our home on wheels is a 38' Coachman TT. Front queen bed bedroom, rear bedroom with triple bunks and dinette which we make into a bed for one of our 4 kids. Super slide in the living area for the sofa and dinette. All the whistles and bells...we really like it. It's an upgrade from our 28' Jayco bunkhouse, no slides. My husband decided he liked camping and wanted more room. I guess I understand because mostly what he does when we camp is sleep and watch tv. We pull it with a suburban. Have no idea what engine or size. Big. Usually pulls it fine. We're taking it to Colorado this summer, we'll see how it pulls in the mountains. We're hoping to take it to WDW in 2008 with the whole family. Great thread, I love meeting other RVers. Going to the camping show this weekend to dream ;)

"Thanks for checking in--I was feeling a lonely. You got a potty for Mother's Day? Lucky! I got a cat box--not kidding. DH had a brilliant idea--fill a bucket with cat iltter, set it under the step. If we need to "go" at night--voila! Cat Box!

We will be married 25 years in a nother month "

OMG! We've only been married 10years! Shame to think of 25 years and a litter box :rotfl2: :rotfl2: :rotfl2: :hyper: :rotfl2: :rotfl2:

We have a 96 Four Winds 29' QB Class C Ford, no slides. Paid in full. DD-almost 13 wants to bring friends along, and is also complaining that she is too tall for the "loft". So off we went to the Valley Forge RV show last weekend. DH was amazed (in a good way) at the prices for TTs and even 5ws. So this post has been an education for me in terms of what you need to pull with.

We were looking at 30'-31' TTs with rear bunks - found a Hornet (?) with bunks and a fold-out sofa that was DDs delight. Probably not this year - hubby needs a vehicle first and so that might be the tow rig. But next year..... who knows?

We were just camping in Valley Forge last weekend But we left the camper at home, come to think of it we left the tents at home too, Saturday night was in the single digits and it felt like it. The scouts had an encampment there.

Our family camps in a '00 Lance 845 slide-in truck camper w/ all the amenities except lots of room. We take it out four wheeling on the beach, it's nice to have a place to get out of the sun.
A Dodge Cummins diesel 3/4 ton hauls it anywhere we want to go

We have a 2004 Jayco 30 ft tt. It has a double bed with a single bunk up top in the rear, a sofa slide and a queen bed/bedroom in the front. We pull it with a 2003 Suburban. I really wanted quad bunks so we may end up upgrading to that in the future. Maybe when the new diesel suburbans come out. For now we love that we have our own bedroom and the kids have theirs. We also love that the kitchen is L shaped so I have a lot more counter space than a lot of setups. I wouldlove a pantry though. We have cabinets but I miss not having a pantry.(we used to borrow a 32ft jayco that had one.)I guess the extra 2 feet really add that much more space. But we love our TT and it works great for us. I especially love that we have air conditioning and heat and 2 tv's/dvd/stereo as well as the bathroom with shower and bath tub. It truly is home away from home.

Heading to Disney April 14, 2006!!

We just upgraded to a new-to-us 1998 37 ft. Bounder with one slide. We upgraded from a 30 ft. fifth wheel. Loved the fifth wheel, but riding in the F250 with 3 boys (15, 13, 8) and two dogs (Bassett Hound & Yorkie), husband and me became too much of a good thing on our last Ft. Wilderness trip (Jan.).

Our Bounder is great - super clean, hardly looks like it's been used at all. We really lucked out. My hubbies favorites on the Bounder are the Ford V10 and the solar panel :confused3. My favorites - the space and the double door frig/freezer with ice maker :thumbsup2 .

2 months til we're back at the Fort and Star Wars weekend. :teacher:

Our camper is a 2002 Sunnybrook 3310SL that we bought new in 2002. It's 33'10" long. It has quad bunks in the back, a walk-through bathroom between the bunk room and the main living area, a dinette/sofa slideout and a queen bed up front. The pluses are lots of room and lots of storage, not to mention a SEPARATE room, with a DOOR, for the kids. The big minus is very little counter space. That walk-through bath is a mixed blessing - it's large (the entire width of the trailer) but DH is generally camping with 4 to 6 females and there are no locks, so you can imagine his concern. My dream camper is one that has everything ours has (including space and storage) but 6 feet shorter. I know, never happening. We've never had a real problem with our length, and DH is amazing at maneuvering that behemoth all over the place, but there are certainly sites we don't fit into and we'd have more options if we were shorter. We pull the camper with either a Suburban 2500 with 4.10 rear and 8.1 liter engine or a Silverado 2500 HD with diesel engine. On trips to Disney (2400 miles round trip) we use the pickup - much better gas mileage.

We have a 21 ft. Great West Van. Has everything we need for two people. We have an electric sofa which goes down into a bed. We also have a microwave, toaster oven and coffee pot. Main reason for buying this was we can store it in our driveway at home.

We have a 2002 Sunnybrook 3001. It is 30', has a queen in the front and two bunks in the rear next to the bathroom. It has a large slide that holds the dinette and a couch. When the slide is out there is lots of room! I searched a long time until I found this floor plan. I wanted to be able to watch TV from bed but not have to have more than one. We have a very large pantry (3'X6') it holds a lot of groceries! I can fit a weeks worth, not problem. It also has a large double door closet that the kids use. DH and I get the two small ones on each side of the bed.

We do the Harrisburg Camping show every year and we searched and searched until we found something we liked. I really like the quality of the Sunnybrook. You can certainly see the difference. The water heater is in the closet, not under the kids beds. The dinette is very sturdy! It has linoleum in front of the sink all the way to the bathroom but the other half where the table and couch is has carpeting (easier to clean when it's muddy). The bunks are getting a little small for DS 16 but I hope to cram him in for a couple more years until he can tow his own pop-up.

We tow it with a 2002 Ford Excursion Limited with the V10. Love the heated seats, epically up here in the winter! Nice comfortable vehicle to ride in but gas mileage is not so good. We get 7 - 8 but DH is usually hammer down!

We hope to retire to a small class C.

:tink:

We have a 2006 Jayco Jayflight 27BH. We are looking forward to a summer of fun in it!

It's not the biggest trailer in the world, but for the 4 of us, it gets the job done. It's about the biggest trailer I could pull with my wife's 1/2 ton pickup.

OMG! I'd better not let my mother see this post because she would think this was a great idea :scared:

We had a 2000 Dutchman pop-up but it was stolen out of our driveway last summer. We tent camped last weekend for the first time in a while and we are going out to look at buying a used pop-up this weekend. This time I will have insurance on it.

Very soon we will be set up to tow our 2000 Coleman/Fleetwood Santa Fe popup with a 2006 Toyota Sienna minivan.

It's not where I thought we'd end up when we starting shopping for a tow vehicle, but it's a great van for every day use and not bad for towing a modest popup! If we like camping and decide to upgrade our trailer, we'll most likely replace our other sedan with a truck for DH's daily driver. The minivan will be for me and the kids.

DH and I started 29 yrs ago with a old harley chopper and a 3 man tent 1 sleeping bag and a bag of tater chips for the weekend.

About 4 yrs later we found ourselves with a 10x10 tent along with the 3 man tent for the DD's Soon added a screen house. Couple more sleeping bags an air mattress or 2 and FOOD an a campstove. We spent many weekends and weeks during the summer doing that.

1985 we moved up to a new pop up coleman camper and a boat which required 2 vehicles to go out camping and boating but DH thought bein off the ground was gonna be better. Beds in the pop up was rock hard. It was hotter than the tent as we didn't eat in tent. I did usually cook outside on the campstove that I could take out and hang on side of camper but still ate inside it was HORRIBLE.

1991 we bought an older early 70's model 35' motor home. The DD's are now 14, 13 and 1 yrs old. While the motorhome had fridge and actual cookstove and microwave 4 bunks in back. Full sized sofa bed in living area etc. OH and a huge bathroom with a closet in it nice sized closet. (I've lived in homes that had smaller bathrooms and NO CLOSET)

The motor home was the killer for us by this time the older DD's had grown tired of camping didn't want to be out with mom and dad anymore. DH didn't want to leave the A/C till close to dark to take out the boat. Didn't understand that it was now time for mom to bathe the baby and settle her in for the night. I had no desire to be out with a DH who wanted to sit in A/C all day 2 teens who didn't want to be there to begin with and a baby in a space smaller than my kitchen at home for a week. I wouldn't have spent a week in my kitchen with the entire family in there unless i absolutely had to why would I want to go camping (so called camping) with them? lol

A few years ago DD # 3 asked to go tent camping we went out for a few days really enjoyed ourselves. Unfortunately DD got ill soon after that and we not had the chance to go back out again. She's better now and just waitin for the chance. It prolly won't be at disney tho.

DH and I still go out campin on a harley every chance we get. No longer a hard tail chopper tho. But not a big fancy dresser by any means. Dome tent we can stand up in now too. Nice coleman queen sized air mattress and polar fleece sleepin bags to save on room. My jacket is my pillow for those runs. I got an old plastic dish pan I haul along when there is room. Go out askin other campers if I can drain water from their cooler. Take the water back to camp wet my hair down so I can comb it can't even comb it unless it's wet. Then I take my sponge bath. Then I do my laundry. Then DH washes the bike down. Get my use out of my dishpan of water that's for sure.

OH something I never figured out how 10 gallons of water could last us 2 weeks in the popup camper but when we moved to the motorhome and had 30 gallons of water why it never lasted more than a day? DD's always used bathroom in motorhome and flushed after every use that's WHY. Camped in state parks with no water hookup OH what fun that motorhome was NOT lol.

hi
ours certainly isn't a rig but we wouldn't be without it. it is what i believe is called a euro van/camper in the u.s.a. 17ft vehicle based on a mercedes sprinter. it has an elevating roof but the windows are all double glazed which makes it lovely and snug. it has an end washroom and marine toilet. it also has hot and cold water and central heating, no air conditioning, it never gets warm enough! the side seats pull out to make a 5ft by 6ft bed. we have an awning which fits on the back which gives us extra room for dining and storage. really not a bad package in a little vehicle. we are off to the coast this weekend- i can't wait :goodvibes (forgot to mention the stove and fridge and full electric hook up)

Hello everyone,
I would love to someday camp at FW but thats a pretty long drives for us. CA to FL lol. (maybe someday)

We have a 2006 Coachmen TT 29ft TBS. It has front Queen, rear double bunk with a full bottom bunk twin top. The couch is a queen sleeper and the table converts to a small bed. The living room slides out.

We have our DD6 and our Dalmatian so this is more than roomy enough for us. We tow it with our 2003 Expedition Eddie Bauer 5.4L V8.
