We're going to for 5 days and will need meals most days. I've already booked a character breakfast and we plan on having lunch one day at Plaza Inn. Aside from that, we have nothing planned. I'm looking for GOOD food. We're not big on table service meals because they're expensive and time consuming.

BTW, we're DVC and staying in a 2-bedroom villa so we'll have a kitchen, which will mostly be utilized for quick breakfasts and snacks. Hey, I'm on vacation too, so I don't want to bother with actually cooking food!

So tell me your fav quick/counter service and suggest some yummy menu items. :)

I love the cauliflower sandwich at Red Rose Taverne. And the bacon mac-and-cheese at the Cozy Cone is awesome, though perhaps more a shared snack than a full meal. General favorites are the French Market in NOS and Flo's in Carsland.

DL: Red Rose Taverne (Poutine!) and Rancho del Zocalo (grilled half chicken with rice and beans---get a side of chips and salsa; the burritos are also great...carnitas is the best one); Bengal BBQ (Safari Skewer, Chicken Skewer, Sweet beef skewer)

DCA: Flo's V8 Cafe (turkey dip with pasta salad); Smokejumper's Grill: Buffalo chicken sandwich or Cheeseburger and ONION RINGS with ranch from the fixins bar); Cocina Cucamonga-the new bowls are good!

Downtown Disney: Napolini (pizza slices), Earl of Sandwich (The Original); Tortilla Jo's Taqueria

DLH: Tangaroa Terrace

GCH: Whitewater Snacks (Carnitas Nachos)

DL: French Market (chicken, salads), with a visit to the Mint Julep Bar window for Mickey-shaped beignets; Red Rose Taverne (Poutine, Beast's Burger, and the Grey Stuff); Jolly Holiday (mostly for the desserts, but the salads are pretty good)
DCA: Flo's (turkey dip) or Paradise Garden Grill (depends on the season)
DTD: Earl of Sandwich (although, they're closing soon)

In the Grand Californian, Whitewater Snacks has something for everyone, plus, the cost is decent. We like the chicken nachos, although, I have read recently they changed them up and stopped putting jalapenos on them.
- Carnation Cafe in DL is great. I would suggest making a reservation for an early lunch after spending the morning in DL. The meatloaf is so good, as well as the fried pickles, baked potato soup and the chicken fried chicken too.
-Tortilla Joes in DTD is good. Big servings so be prepared for leftovers.
-Flo's in DCA is good for breakfast. We haven't had lunch or dinner there.
-My kids like eating at the Golden Horseshoe in DL because there is plenty of food in the serving. Granted, the choices are very limited, but it is in a great place to stop and cool off during a hot day while having a bite to eat.
-Fiddler, Fifel and Practical. Yes, it is Starbucks, but it is in DCA and you can get a salad and a sandwich, along with a good beverage and watch the entertainment out the window. (You can get the Mickey's kitchen sink from Clarabelles next to FF&P and sit with the rest of your party. Makes a great souvenir too.
-You can pull up the menus that list the food as well as the prices in both parks as well as DTD. There are many places to get a great salad, fresh fruit as well as not so healthy foods.

Red Rose Taverne is my new favorite quick service restaurant. The menu items all seem to be gourmet-quality. We love the fries at Cafe Orleans, but don’t like the time it takes to eat there. But the fries at Red Rose seem to be the same or almost the same.
One thing worries me about how good Red Rose is. Flo’s in Cars Land started out with really great, high-quality plate meals. But they overhauled their menu after some time. It’s not bad now. But it’s not nearly as great of quality as it used to be, in my opinion. The prices stayed more or less the same, but the value diminished significantly when they switched to mostly simpler sandwiches rather than large home-style plates. I’m worried that after some time goes by, they may do the same with Red Rose. Once a steady clientele is built up and some manager is pressured to find places to increase revenue, those really yummy Pommes Frites and the poutine seem like relatively easy targets for cost-saving menu changes. Fingers crossed that they keep that menu high-quality!

DL:
French Market - Meatloaf
Little Red Wagon - Corn Dog

CA:
Pacific Wharf Cafe - Soup in a Bread Bowl

DTD: Earl of Sandwich, though as has been mentioned it will be closing soon. I am hoping they reopen in an alternate location.

DCA: Paradise Garden Grill...Mediterranean skewers!!
DL: Jolly Holiday....sandwiches and sweet goodies (mickey macarons, matterhorn macaroons....and more!)
DTD: Ralph Brennan's Jazz Kitchen Express......GUMBO!!

When the Billies were at the Golden Horseshoe, that would have been my #1 pick by far but with them gone, my next choice is probably The Plaza Inn (for dinner).

CA: Any bread bowl from Pacific Warf but request the soup to be in a separate bowl from the bread- it's much easier to eat that way!

What is poutine?? And where is Red Rose Taverne?

It's waffle fries topped with slow braised shredded beef in a wine gravy, pickled red onions, and cheese curds that are marinated in herbs. It is located across from Casey Jr Circus Train, in Fantasyland. Used to be Pinocchio's Village Haus.

-Flo's in DCA is good for breakfast.

We randomly wound up there once for breakfast after the Starbucks in DCA line was insane and our #2 choice was not open yet...we left all pleasantly surprised and have been back a few times for breakfast since!

Y'all (sorry...I'm from Texas!) are awesome!

Yes, Little Red Wagon for corn dogs is on the list. We've eaten at Flo's and we enjoy it too. Sounds like I need to try some skewers (Paradise Garden Grill) and soup (Pacific Warf). :)

We'll be there at the end of next month, so hopefully Earl of Sandwich is still open. It's a reasonably priced meal, especially within the bubble.

What were the Billies?

Billy Hill and the hillbillies was a wonderful show that lasted for many years. Basically four guys dressed up as hillbillies all named "Billy", playing music and performing skits.
Their replacements just aren't the same.

Yes and no...Paradise Garden Grill did close, but it re-opened, however during Pixar Fest they're using it to feature items inspired by Coco. During other festivals in DCA (e.g., F&W, Festival of Holidays) it featured a menu that tied into the event. So while it is open, it has a rotating menu depending on what else is happening in DCA.

There won't be skewers at Paradise Garden Grill next month. Try them at Bengal BBQ, though! Those skewers are WAY better!
