Tell me what's great about Kohl's

I am an Ad Setter at Kohl's. I sent a letter to Corporate Last February and told them they are crazy changing their ads 3-4 times a week. Every and I mean every sign needs to be scanned to see if it changes and it usually does, to say the exact same thing. I don't think Ad changes have gotten better, it has gotten worse. 3 changes this week and I go in tonite-I almost have 40 hours in and I put 40 hours in my day time job this week.

So now they have people come in who just set the ads? The Supervisors don't do it any more?

I hear you about changing every sign 3 times a week, especially during the holidays. I used the have the entire Misses Department memorized and could put the ad signs in order without even looking at the department. Used to take me 2 hours to set the Ad in that dept.

Don't get me wrong - I like Kohls - but......as far as there return policy I must have gotten the wrong CSR. I bought a pair of tennis shoes there. Nikes - New Balance - something like that. I took them to work with me, put them on in my office that has carpet and wore them the rest of the afternoon. One of the shoes had a flaw and it had material sticking out on the inside of the shoe. I took it back and they gave me h$#@ about trying to return it because I had "worn" it. Okay - so I should have lied about it? I was inside on carpet and it had a manufacturers flaw....and this is my fault why? I mean looking at the shoe you could not tell it had been worn - the bottom wasn't even dirty. After it started rubbing I took them off, put them back in the box, and then went to return them. I never even wore the stupid shoes outside. Also I have had a lot of the clothes I have bought - womens sizes - shrink ridiculously....and not uniformly. I mean a T-shirt that seems to get bigger around but shorter. Crazy stuff like that. But I do shop there and have never had a problem with any of the mens clothes I have bought DH. And I have still bought most of my workout shoes there. But that one experience had really left a bitter taste in my mouth.

I have this happen with Kohl's brand Sonoma in the Children's section. They are short and wide. Does not help my petite DD.

I had a similar problem with the Sonoma petite pants. I bought 4 pairs of capri pants last year, as they fit very well when I tried them on. The first time I washed them, they shrank like crazy. I should have taken them back and complained.

I know there are dishonest people out there who will wear something once then try to get their money back for no reason. And that's why some companies return policies are strict. But when the product is not a quality product - shrinking, flawed etc. why would a store want to give a customer (repeat customer with their card and everything - oh wait I never pay interest so they don't like me) a hard time about a return. Like I said I still shop there - not going to cut off my nose to spite my face - but I am more careful about what clothes I buy for myself.

Well, the store employees don't know if you pay interest or not. :p

I probably would have written about the poor Customer Service. They take that very seriously there.

I sent and email to the company about a manager at the store here. She pretty much called me a liar about a sign that was posted, but rung up a different price. She said she went to check it and it wasn't there. So I refused those items and paid for the rest. Went back, pulled the sign, took it to the cashier and told her she needed to let her manager know about it and walked out. She was paging the manager as I left.

I work there. I know if something shrinks I will be taking it back. Sonoma is one of the worst. It shrinks almost all the time. I'm not paying for clothing that is one wearing, then thats it. So don't feel bad. Take it back and let them know it shrunk. They cannot refuse you. Some people will try and give you a hard time. Just be nice and they will take it back. The policy is yes we can.

That's true - they don't know if I pay interest or not - do they ;) Seriously....I know I probably just got a customer service person who was having a bad day - I worked at a toystore as an assistant manager and I know what those days feel like. Overall I do like the store. And will continue to shop there.

I work in returns. We have know idea what you do with your credit card or if you even have one. The average worker truthfully could careless if you even have the stores credit card.I'm saying this in a nice way. The bottom line is you can't attack the worker. If you go up with a nice attitude and explain the item shrunk or you just were not happy with it they shouldn't give you a problem. The customer who comes up demanding and rude will not be getting the best of service. It's just human nature on the part of the worker. So my advice would be give being nice a try. If that doesn't work, ask for a manager. In the end you will win. I know this from my own experience. I almost never loose in the return line. You don't have to be stressed out either.
