I am posting a picture I took last weekend. I will tell you who, what where and why, but I wanted to post it and see what kind of response I get. And, no one was hurt in the taking of this picture!

That is SOOOO wrong!! You mugged a lady and THEN took her picture before you left??!!! You could have at least helped her up!

that gives a whole new meaning to the term "MUGSHOT" :lmao::lmao:

awesome shot, but I'd like it better if she were either turned the other way or a little closer to the opening so her whole head was visible

The funny thing is that the part that bothers me is that the camera wasn't level! But then, I already knew it wasn't real. If I thought otherwise, it might be different.

Remember the Pulitzer-winning photo of the little girl being rescued from the wreckage of the Oklahoma City bombing? Seeing it made me cry. When I found out, years later, that the little girl had died a few days later, it happened all over again. Up till that time, I thought she had survived ...

i like it! the lighting is great. however, i don't get the feeling like she's been mugged. i feel like she's just chillin' there. lol.

Was this supposed to be a mugging??? Her bag is still there. I'd think a good mugger would've taken the whole bag.

It's also a little unique that you can see the nice area with the stairs nicely lit. It just doesn't fit this scene right. It would be cool if that part were 'darker' (cloudy or rainy day; or at night); or even just totally pleasant (like a garden full of flowers) to give this scene some contrast.

Or maybe a real low angle, with the camera being a little closer to the girl. And maybe a wide aperture to give some nice dof.

Ok.. You asked what we think....

It doesn't grab me. In concept I like it and I see some potential with the scene, but the composition is kind of blah... she's too close to center. My eye goes there and stays, and the rail and lights down the center reinforces that in addition to visually dividing it in half. And there's that great splash of light that could have been used, and I have this urge to drag her into it. Not sure what kind of feel you were going for, but I could see a grittier look with more grain working well... you know, dirty it up some in post.

Now who is she and what were you going for?

Honestly my first impression was "Awe that's nice, his wife has no problem lying down to get the shot." And I figured you took a picture of her taking a picture so she can show what she had to do to get her shot.

As for where, it looks like the visitors entrance to a college football field. :confused3

I'm guessing you took a picture of a fellow photographer during Scott Kelby's photowalk, maybe in the Free Expression tunnel but definitely somewhere in North Carolina...but I could be wrong, it is just a guess after all. :)

Some people are just too smart! ANN!!!

I did the Kelby walk this past Saturday in Raleigh, NC. The "Leader" of the group was lying on the ground to take a picture. It is at the free expression tunnel at NC State. I agree the composition was not that great but thought it looked far more ominous than it was. It was taken with a 10.5. that is why I was able to get the depth of field.

That looks like a situation where my germophobia would trump my love of photography!

Oh you give me too much credit. :thumbsup2 I've heard of the Free Expression Tunnel before, know you are from NC and saw your Flickr, so I knew that you attended the PhotoWalk...if I coudln't figure that one out, I'd worry about myself.

You should post some other shots you took that you have on Flickr. There is one in particular that I saw that is taken straight on the hand rail with the fisheye I believe, I really really liked that one.

Free Expression tunnel at NC State. 5 of the best years of my life! LOL I remember when it use to be somewhat organized and respected and actually had what many would deem works of art in it. :(

I am SOOOOOOOO envious! I want a place like that around me to do senior portraits.... or even an edgy "bridal" or trash the dress shot. My mind is going in a million and one different directions. Can you just back that place up and send it to me for a while? ;)
