DH and I will be going for Free Dining 8/23-8/29, and here's what I have mapped out for our ADRs:

8/23 - 1PM Lunch at Tusker House (for Finding Nemo at 3PM)
8/23 - 8PM Dinner at Liberty Tree Tavern (will we have time to make Spectromagic at 9?)
8/24 - We have a "special" day planned and we'll just use CS credits - no time for sit down meals!!
8/25 - 1:20PM Lunch at Chefs de France to see Remy!!
8/26 - 8:30PM dinner at Rose and Crown Pub (hopefully have a great table to see Illuminations at 9PM)
8/27 - 7PM dinner at 50's Prime Time Cafe
8/28 - 8PM Dinner at Whispering Canyon Cafe

My call in date for ADRs is on Memorial Day, so I hope I can get myself out of bed and on the phone that day!

Let me know what you think and if my times are okay to do some of the things I mentioned - Spectromagic is only going on twice during the time we will be there and we can't make the next showing so I definitely don't want to miss the one on the 23rd!!

This wasn't available on my last trip. The wait for Nemo makes this a great idea.
8/23 - 8PM Dinner at Liberty Tree Tavern (will we have time to make Spectromagic at 9?)If not, they'll let you leave your table to go watch. But an hour should be plenty.

Never done Chefs de France but the rest are all on my short list of faves, along with LTT and Biergarten. Sounds like a great way to dine on Disney.

The same goes for 8:30PM at Rose and Crown - I'm wondering if that might be too late to book a table. I really want a table on the patio for Illuminations viewing, but I don't want to get there too early and end up just sitting around for a while. What time do you recommend me trying for to make sure I'm not waiting too long or getting there too late?

LTT is near the tail end of the Spectromagic parade route, you should be able to view it I think. It will take a good 35-45 minutes to get there. Perhaps someone else can vouch for me. We ate at LTT and saw the whole thing after eating there.

Whew! That's good to know. We didn't get a chance to see it on our last trip, so I'm looking forward to it this year!!

I would make LTT at least 15 minutes earlier if you can, since it might take a little while to get seated. I would make R&C at least 30 minutes earlier.

What happened at Whispering Canyon that turned you off so much? I keep reading so many great reviews and what a fun place this is to eat.

Whew! That's good to know. We didn't get a chance to see it on our last trip, so I'm looking forward to it this year!!

Keep asking around, we went during a slow time and there was hardly anybody at the tail end of the SM parade route. It wouldn't hurt to arrive at LTT early and tell the server you want Quick service to see SM. It will be tight but doable.
