I JUST GOT HOME FROM DISNEY AND DID THE TOUR OF THE DVC AND I'D REALLY APPRECIATE ANY INSIGHT, OPINIONS ETC ABOUT THE CLUB. I MUST SAY MY HUSBAND AND I ARE VERY INTERESTED BUT WE'D REALLY LIKE TO HEAR WHAT OTHERS HAVE TO SAY.
THANKS
JoJo, read the posts you will learn a lot here. It was a huge tipping point for us to buy in. Disney will only give you so much info..its here you will learn the true in and outs of DVC. Post some direct questions that are on your mind. Most here love DVC and the only complaint is that people wanted to buy in sooner. Some basic things to make sure DVC fits you.
1) You travel to Disney every year or every other year.
2) When you stay at Disney its in the Deluxe resorts, even mods.
If these aren't you, you may want to rethink DVC.

Did you tour the resort or just the showroom? If you did not, I suggest you to tour the "real" resort where you want to buy points. If you do decide to buy, get it where you "want to stay." Also, if you are not impressed by saratoga springs, you can buy points at the other existing resorts thru DVC or resales. Be warned that they may pressure you into buying a resort that you do not want. Best wishes.
Hi this is our 4th year of being a dvc member, we just love it our home resort is vero beach, never been there, but we have stayed at old key west, saratoga springs, animal kingdom and wilderness lodge and and the fort wilderness campground. We love them all and never have enough points. The grand villas are excellent for taking down a large group of family or friends, along with the two bed rooms, my mother and father have been a dvc memeber since the early 80's, they say it is the best invest they have ever mad & I have to agree. I hope you join the magic any questions just email at allmortgageco@woh.rr.com. thanks for listening Tammi
Ummm....addonitis is VERY contagious......ummm...DVC ownership is "addicting" and sucks all your money and vacation time......ummm...you will NEVER have enough points.....hmmmm....that's about all I can think of for now.
Seriously, DVC ownership is really cool, and the resorts are really nice. It is hard to say whether it would be right for you because we don't know you. Like anything else, there is a "system", and the system works better for some than for others. Read these boards until you think you're going to turn into a Mouseketeer...and then, read a lot more. Then, decide for yourself.
SINCE THE EARLY 80'S?? OR DID YOU MEAN EARLY 90'S?
The only regret that DH and I have is that we didnt buy sooner. We originally thought we would travel to WDW once a year. Turns out we travel now 3 times a year to WDW. It is the only place we want to go for vacation.
Jo Jo I think it would help you if you posted some questions you have or thoughts running through your mind. These wonderful folks on the disboards will do their best to answer every question you have.
We have been members since 1999. During this time we have taken many trips and been able to invite friends and family that would never have been able to go on their own (even with staying offsite). We love DVC!!
However, we returned from a trip last week and decided that summers are not for us. Our kids just started school so we thought we should start vacationing in the summer. Well, I am starting to rethink DVC. I am sure we will hold on to it for a few more years and see how things work out. If we only start visiting Disney occasionaly because of the desire to only go during the off season, we may sell.
The point of saying all of this is to emphasis the importance of thinking about how long DVC will be beneficial for you with the number of points that you are interested in buying. As others have said (and to add to), 1) be sure to buy where you want to stay, 2) Buy 1 min 150 pt contract and then small add ons. This will allow you to sell pieces if you decide that you have too many points.
This is our 10th year as DVC members. We bought the year I became pregnant with our first child. We go every year----one year we went twice. We did the Disney Cruise last year and had a great time.
We traveled a lot before children and I have to say that Disney vacations are the way to go if you have kids. They cator to families and it is a stressfree vacation. We enjoy it every time we go.
We now take our entire family with us so they can enjoy it, too. This Jan. we will all be at the Old Key West resort---all 16 of us!!!! Many memories are being made.
It is a great investment if this is your kind of vacation.
Best decision we ever made!
