So excited I just booked my trip for December at Port Orleans French Quarter :cool1: We are so excited. We have only really ever stayed at the Value Resorts so this is a HUGE step up for us! :cloud9:

I know NOTHING about this resort. So I am asking all you wonderful ppl to tell me ALL!!! :wizard: Whatever you want to share I want to know. Like can you take any of the boats to any of the parks? Is there back entrances for boat passengers in Epcot? Things like that. Best food at the resort, and it is worth it for me to upgrade for a river view ( are the rooms better?).

Thank you in advance for any info!!!!

Like can you take any of the boats to any of the parks?

No. Only to DTD. They don't always run there either, it depends on the weather, time of year, and mosquito issues.

Is there back entrances for boat passengers in Epcot?

No, you can't get to Epcot by boat.

Things like that. Best food at the resort, and it is worth it for me to upgrade for a river view ( are the rooms better?).

The rooms are exactly the same, possibly quieter.

I'd suggest you look bacl a few pages in this section, there are multiple threads on PO that will probably answer your questions.

We stayed at POFQ after staying at the Polynesian. We loved POFQ and probably wouldn't spend the $ on the POly. We had a waterfront room, although I wouldn't spend the extra money. The resort is beautiful, the food court was nice and had a good variety. We took a car, so I can't comment on the bus service. You will love POFQ.

The POFQ is a great resort....you will find tons of info here, just look around. Unfortunately you can only take the boat to Downtown Disney when they are running. From personal experience, there are long lines to catch it, so we normally hop on the bus....but it definitely is a nice ride. As far as a back entrance....I don't believe so. There is a back entrance and there is a boat that goes to EPCOT, but they are two very different things. We have found the foodcourt and the CMs there to be some of the nicest we have encountered at DW. Its fastfood....enough said. As for the upgrade to waterview - I wouldn't recommend it unless you really have extra $$ to spend. Our one and only time with waterview was not so fun. We had problems with the key entry (due to the humidity - as per the front desk) and each night walking to the room meant being eaten alive by the mosquitos. So now I just but that extra money towards a nice meal. The bus system is fine, it stops first at POFQ then onto POR, so you can get seating. If you have any other questions, please feel free to ask, we are heading back there in a few days after about 5 years, so we are excited as well.

Hey manhattan, we'll be there Thursday-Sunday! Glad for the heads up about the bugs, they love to munch on our younger daughter. I'll make sure she packs her insect repellent.

We stayed at POFQ in Feb 2005 and just booked Feb 2006. Loved, Loved, Loved this resort. We stayed at Caribbean Beach in 2004 and enjoyed it but loved the quaint size of POFQ. The boat at POFQ takes you to either POR, where there is a sit-down restaurant - Boatwrights, or to DTD. The boats where running when we were there in Feb.

As for the water view request.....we had a view of the pool after requesting it. Make sure you call to add that you want your water view to be of the river, not the pool (a little noisy sometimes).

The food court was perfect. All the food was good (not great - it is a food court) but we were always able to find something the four of us would eat.

We did not get a chance to take advantage of such things as the horse and carriage ride last time but will do so this time.

Enjoy your stay.....We love it at POFQ.

I loved it at POFQ (and that was before it was rehabed). I'm sure it's even better now. Beautifully landscaped. Boat trip at night to DTD was great. Very relaxing. Bus service is better at POFQ than POR. You are first to get picked up and if bus fills up they skip POR and head straight to the park. Resort is nice and compact so not much walking to get to pool and food court. Enjoy! :)

Me and by dbf are goin in cot and staying in POFQ. I cant wait it looked so nice and everyone seems to like it soo much.

Thanks for the info and I will do a search for this. Should I use POFG or spell it all out for the search?

We are driving as well so the bus is not an issue for us. And sicne we are going in Dec I am hoping the bugs will not be bad, there have never been any before to speak of.

Drizz how were they in Feb?

Tink - The bugs in Feb were practically non-existant. My DS (10) usually gets bitten really bad if there is even a bug in a 5 mile radius. Only one bite last trip. Bring the spray just in case. If theres a warm snap they come out looking......

Thanks. I was wondering if they were less all over in winter of just because there is more vegatation at PO as opposed to All-Stars where there is not tons, kwim?

There are just less bugs in the winter. We live close ot WDW, and on July 4th had a party to watch the WDW fireworks from our house. I fogged the yeard about an hour before our guests arrived, and we had Off! for everyone to use, and we still got bitten up. Of course the smart people who stayed on the screened lanai didn't get eaten as badly LOL!

I've got a little gecko who took up residence on my lanai about two months ago, and he's taking care of the little bugs that make it through the screen or the door when it's opened, and he's not starving to death--in fact he looks like he's gotten a bit bigger. He's afraid of people, he hides under/behind the summer kitchen when we come out, and seems to have no interest in getting into the house. As long as he continues to eat the bugs and stays out of the house, he's welcome to stay as long as he'd like! :flower: :flower: I just hope there's enough for him to eat in the winter, because there just aren't many bugs then.

That is cute Anne! My kids would love that. We live in NH and they are trying to find salamanders every day right now!
