Tell Me What To Do At World Showcase

World Showcase is one of my favorite places in WDW. I will be heading there solo in one month and plan on spending 2 days there. Below are my recomendations.

1) See as much of the Entertainment at each country as you can. Ones I especialy enjoyed are The living statue in Italy, Off Kilter in Canada, The WS Players in England, The Acrobat's in China, and the Drums in Japan. But try to see as many as possible.

2) The attractions. The ride in Norway, Mexico, and the movies in Canada, China, and France.

3) Take time to explore each country. Don't forget to check out by the water, some of them have some surprises over their. Walk around, look in the shops, try to see the whole country. Make sure you go into the shops even if you don't plan on buying anything because the employees are from the country you are in and the stores are designed like they are from the host country, and the goods are unique as well. A few I really like are the shop's in England, Japan, and Germany. And you must visit the giant Troll in Norway. You'll know it when you see it. Remember, these countries are the closest thing to actually being in those countries. A great deal of effort went into making them authentic.

4) Sample foods from each country, ESPECIALLY THE PASTRY SHOP IN FRANCE. You may want to eat a nice lunch or dinner at one of the countries, or you could get a little sample from each country and let the family share so everyone can try something from each country.

5) Get there early when it opens up and spend the whole day there. It's kind of a circle, so if you make it around once and you have more time, just keep going and start again and try to see things you missed the first time around.

6) Though the American section is nice, we usually do not spend alot of time their for obvious reasons, but it is nice.

7) World Showcase has a ton of photo op's. have plenty of room on your card or plenty of film.

8) Don't miss Illuminations, the firework show at night.

Hope this helps, A good tip is to just rely on your map and Entertainment schedule, and see as much as you can without rushing.

wow! thanks
we're staying at the BCV our 2nd wk and Im planning on alot more time in the countries

I love world showcase and have to admit that some things you guys mentioned I have never even seen!

To sum it all up and to give you my advice on touring World Showcase.....

I would just eat my way around the Showcase....a drink here, an appetizer there, a snack at this little place, a main dish somewhere else, and dessert everywhere.

Have fun (and wear elastic-waisted pants)!

WOW there is a wealth of information in this thread :cool1: Thanks!

Question about the Kidcot stations - is it typically crowded at these? Do they queue up for these? Thanks

We went at Spring Break and there were some lines in some countries but nothing really outrageous, five minutes tops. Sometimes it's hard to find the Kidcot stations, but after awhile we figured out that they are located the gift shops with toys in each country...go figure LOL. They are usually towards the back of each area as well.

Princess Wannabe really posted a nice summary! I just wanted to add that the Living Statues mentioned by many posters, who were most recently at Italy, are no longer at Epcot. Also, most of the live entertainment is in the World Showcase. Here is sort of the standard site for Epcot (and WDW) live entertainment: Steve Soares site The guy is amazing, has been transcribing the Disney published entertainment schedule for like 7 years.

UK for Rose and Crown,British Invasion, and the street comedy

I agree with the other posters that the UK is fun - felt right at home. It was even raining during the Beatles concert :) Rose and Crown is great - lovely chips!

I also really like the atmosphere at the Mexican indoor market and if you like Mexican food the restaurant there would be a nice spot for a supper (by the river!). The boat ride is fun, although I didn't queue at all so I wouldn't wait more than 15 mins for it.

Also check out the Japanese drummers - my boyfriend plays the drums and so really enjoyed that.

I could go on and on - we just loved the Showcase - our favourite place in all of Disney. We always spend at least two full evenings there.

Enjoy.

Jasminetigger- You've gotten some great responses. I would only add that after you've rushed around the rest of WDW, don't rush WS, it's best taken in as your "stop and smell the roses" attraction. That's actually how we first discovered it, on our last day at the parks on our 1st trip, we were exhausted and looking for a place to rest. We walked to the back of Japan and discovered their lovely gardens. It was the perfect oasis! The adults sipped Japanese beer, the kids had kaki gori and played around the cool, green water gardens... WDW doesn't have to be all about how much you get done in a day, it is a vacation too after all! WS is about relaxing and discovering ...it's our family's favorite place in all WDW!

I second that you shouldn't rush in WS. It is a place to be savored, to relax, explore & enjoy the beauty in the details. Don't just walk on by if there's not a ride or a performer - Go into the countries & wander thru the "streets" & gardens. Most of the countries have museum type displays to enjoy & learn from....

Morocco is my favorite also & I think Mo'rockin is NOT to be missed! I could see them 5 times a day & love every show. I have bought their CD to enjoy at home. Tangerine Cafe is, IMHO, the best counter service in WDW.

Another thing I never miss in WS is perfume shopping in Norway. I have been wearing Laila for about 5 or so years. I never get tired of it's clean, sexy scent. I even have my DH wearing Geir from the same designer now - It is heavenly! :cloud9:

I can't recommend the Passports for kids strongly enough. That's how my DS fell in love with WS 6 years ago. Now I have no problems with taking him to WS as he has discovered all the hidden wonders that are there. The day he got his passport, we hit the WS at 11:00 for opening time & didn't leave til after Illuminations & had to rush the last couple countries. We went back the next day to explore those countries & redo favorites - He was a 10 yo male thrill ride junkie asking to spend more time at WS!

I am loving this thread. Epcot is my families favorite park. We hit it each day that we are there.. Going back in May for the Flower and Garden Festival and can't wait to check out some of the stuff you all have mentioned. Must admit as many times as we have been , we missed a lot of the things mentioned in this post. Printing this out to read on the ride there.

Cyndi princess:

You've gotten so many good suggestions, not sure I can add anything but we LOVE World Showcase. My DD who was 8 last time doesn't like many rides, and had her best day savoring the world. We were fortunate to see the candy lady, and happened to find Jasmine and Aladdin when not many others were around for pics and autographs.

One other thing was, we have German ancestry, and we spoke with a few of the CM's in Germany. Some of them are similar to exchange students, in that they work here for a certain time, then go back to their home country. While DD was working on her mask we had a couple nice conversations with the CM's. Gives them a chance to talk about their homeland and is very interesting as well.

Have a great trip! :sunny:
