I'd love to hear the names you chose for your cat, and how you came up with them.

My cat's name is Rebel. He went unamed for 3 or 4 days while I was trying to come up with something.
I finally started browsing the artist and song title names on some CD's when I found Rebel. No real reason other than that sounded like a good name for a cat.

My cat's name is Chip. We went through many names, but they didn't seem to fit. Chip made sense because he has spots on him like Chocolate Chips and because he was little like Chip the Cup. He also has a hidden mickey on his back.

I don't have a cat-but my friend just got one.
She named him Mr. Bojangles and put a pink rhinestone collar on him

I chose the name Honey for her. It doesn't fit. Which is just as well, since we call her "Kitty" more than anything anyway. My DH likes to call her "Filthy."

I chose Honey because I took her to the vet a few days after we got her, and I had to give them a name for her. So Honey came to mind, and that was that.

I should have named her Piggy.

Our one cat's name is Mischief. It turns out to be a good choice because it really suits her.

Our other cat (who really belongs to the neighbours but lives at our house) is called Subway. They named him that because they were thinking about names and they were eating Subway subs at the time.

Our cat's name is Rowdy. <a href='http://www.smileycentral.com/?partner=ZSzeb008' target='_blank'><img src='http://smileys.smileycentral.com/cat/8/8_1_29.gif' border=0></a> My DS named him that because he was just a little rascal and was quite rowdy.

Our cats name is Chyna. We named her after the WWF wrestler. I'm not sure why but it stuck.

Smokey ~ DH is a firefighter
Gray ~ self explainatory
TJ ~ already named when we adopted him
Casper ~ jet black, my DD named him!
Yoshi ~ from Super Mario Bros.

My favorite cat was "Bleu" - she was sort of a Taupe coloring with an almost Blue-ish tint - really a beautiful cat.

My first cat was "Keggar" - I got her at a party in College :D

Simba, because when we went to pick him up, he came walking out of a closet with his head held high and these big paws pouncing, I said, 'he looks just like baby Simba!' and it stuck. :p :teeth:

Cali, because she is a Calico cat. The vet spelled her name Cali instead of Callie and I just kept it that way.:D

Long story: about a year and a half ago, a stray cat in our neighborhood had some kittens who all eventually took up with one of our neighbors. My DD had grown very attached to them and had named all the kittens. Unfortunately, one by one, the little kittens became sick and some of them began to die. It was basically a 24-hour a day job taking care of these sick kitties, so the neighbors pitched in to help. We took one of them named Cinnamon.

I could not believe how well my DD took care of that little kitten. She had to be fed every couple hours, cleaned up after and honestly, it was worse than a baby. Seemed once you finished cleaning her it was time to feed her again. Unfortunately, the little kitten died (as did all of the others in the litter - we never figured out why).

Although DH was against having a pet, we decided that DD had shown she was more than responsible, so we decided to get her a kitten. We wanted to name it after Cinnamon, but that name did not seem right for this particular kitten, so we named her Ginger instead. About a year later, a neighbor got 'stuck' with the cutest little kitten that looked almost exactly like DD's little Cinnamon. I fell in love with him, but knew DH would never agree to another one. Well, one day DH comes home from work carrying that little kitten. I couldn't believe it....my cat-hating husband. So of course, we had to name this one Cinnamon!

We always joke that if we get any more we'll have to name them Basil, Garlic, Oregano, etc!

Our current cat is Murray. She runs across the room and hits the wall like Murray the dog on Mad About You.
Our previous cats have been
Polly-she was a polydactyl
Nina-we got her on Columbus Day
Astro-we got her when she got stuck in our Astro van between the battery and the firewall with her leg in the grill
Rugrat-his mother would sit with me in a chair and place him on a rug in whichever room we were in at the time, he was her only surviving kitten

What a great Story Kim.

When I brought my cat home from College, I lived at home with my parents for a few months before getting a "real" job - my Dad was totally opposed to having a cat in the house and gave me one week to find it a new home....

The first weekend I was home, I went out of town for the weekend and when I got back there was ripped up tissue all over the Den.. I thought... "oh no... where's the Cat?" and my Mom informed me that I didn't need to bother finding a new home for the cat, and it wasn't the cat that made the mess, it was my cat-hating Dad who had ripped up all the kleenex while playing with the cat all weekend.

That Cat lived with my parents for another 10 years.... "Not an average cat, the smartest cat in the world" according to my Dad, otherwise he never would have allowed her to stay.

We have 2 brother cats named Bert and Ernie. We found them as kittens and wanted 2 boy names that went together.

:D cool name.

Both my cats are Japanese Bobtails. JBTs are very affectionate and quite dog-like.

I let my cat-hating husband name the first cat hoping it would help them bond  . My DH named my male kitty Nikkei after the Nikkei Index.

I named our second kitty. She was born on 7/1/04 in Winnepeg, CA. Her breeder called her "Missy", short for "Miss Canada" since the litter was born on Canada Day. We were at WDW that day and I remember seeking out the Canadian CMs and wishing them a happy Canada Day :). "Missy" came to live with us in November and she needed a Japanese name. I named her Kaede which is Japanese for "Maple". It's also a very popular girl's name in Japan. To make this even nicer, we visited Japan 3 years ago in the fall just as the wonderful Japanese maples were turning colors.

My oldest cat is named Bethany. I just liked the name and thought it was pretty.

When Bethany was 6, I adopted a brother and sister from a litter at my niece's daycare. I had always liked the name Timothy for a cat, so that I knew would be the brother's name. I wanted something to flow with Bethany and Timothy, and finally settled on Tabitha.

It's quite a mouthful when we go to the vet! Although most of the time I just call them Beth, Tim and Tab.

All of my pets will have people names.

Many years ago we found a Black cat in our new empty apt when we moved into Base Housing at Camp Pendleton.

FRIDAY THE 13TH became our new feline housemate's name. We found her in the dishwasher on the day we moved in... which was of course Friday the 13th!

Swear to God this is true!

The first cat we ever got was named Audrey Hepburn. The rescue organization we got her from had named her. Unfortunately, Audrey ended up being feral, and after 5 months of trying to acclimate her, we had to give her back. One of the things we tried was getting her a companion - Katharine, who is all white except for a black "toupee" between her ears.

I was at Petsmart one day and totally fell in love with a baby kitten they were just bringing in. We decided to adopt her, and named her Grace Kelly - until we went for the neutering appointment a month later and found out Grace was actually a BOY. So we re-named him Rajah, partly because my 4yo loves Aladdin, and partly because he acts the part of a "Rajah". ("I own this, this and this, and you may pet me now." )

When we went to take Audrey back I fell in love with a sweet tortie who we brought home and named Jasmine.

My husband says I'm not allowed in Petsmart anymore.:teeth:
