Tell Me What I Should Love About BLT

@CraigInPA I don't think I'd like the "hairy guy view" either! 😂 Thanks for the info! The only request I have made is for a dedicated room, not a lock-off. It's a cash booking; what are the odds I'll get a dedicated room and not a lock off? Can I make another request as you've recommended, or can I only make one request? I really want my boys to each have their own beds and not a pullout couch, but now you've made me want to avoid the odd numbered side of the building. 😅

With a cash booking you'll be in a dedicated 2BR unless there's something unforeseen that happens. Really that's a request you could drop because the room assignor will look at it and decide easy peasy - we met their request! lol Just go with requesting the even numbered rooms, high floor.

A cash booking for a dedicated 2br will, unless there is some kind of emergency maintenance, always get you a dedicated 2br. I'd give them a call and ask them to change your request to an even numbered room. There's no guarantee you'll get an even numbered room, of course, because it's just a request.

All the folks who put forth compelling arguments for BCV made me check online again, and it looks like the 2BR at BCV I found yesterday is...gone

Beach Club, Boardwalk, Riviera I would all switch to if it wasn't any extra. Same with Grand Floridian. I would switch to the Wilderness if I got a decent discount over BLT.

BLT is nice for the walk though to Magic Kingdom.

I've stayed in a 2 bedroom at both BLT and BCV. The BLT 2 bedroom is much nicer overall - living area is bigger, you get 3 full bathrooms, and I personally LOVE the close proximity to MK. Also love being on the monorail to pop around to GF or Poly for dinners, etc., and (once it's back open) the monorail to Epcot is fun too. At BCV the rooms are slightly run down (that's too strong, but they are a tad bit dated compared to BLT). But I did really love the close proximity to Epcot. If you're there you must get a park hopper because we would pop into Epcot for a drink at the end of the night, or grab dinner there, etc. You can also take the skyliner direct to Riviera for dinner or breakfast at Topolino's Terrace - both are fantastic (pricy, but we really loved both meals). I agree with those saying that unless you really really love MK and will be there a good amount, you are probably better off saving the $1500 and switching to BCV.

Seriously though, you've all given me much to think about for our next WDW trip. Sounds like I definitely should check out the BCV in the future!

Any other reassuring tidbits for the BLT would be great, too!
Oops - I just saw this now. Well, you will love the 2 bedroom at BLT. It's absolutely luxurious. The master bath is fantastic. Take advantage of being on the Monorail! My DH and I went to dinner on our own one night at Narcoosee's at GF - left the kids at BLT to order room service - and it was really fantastic. And you can watch the fireworks from there too. Also, California Grill is amazing for fireworks and food - get a res there one night for sure!

@alon86 thanks for the reassurance!

I've seen pictures/videos of BLT 2 bedrooms with a good sized laundry room, and with the stackables in a tiny laundry closet. Is it luck of the draw whether you get a 2 bedroom villa with a laundry room or a small laundry closet? This is a first world problem, for sure, but a FB friend posted their pics of their 2 bedroom villa tonight with a large laundry room and it made me go back and look at the 2 bedroom video I saw on youtube a couple months ago. Sure enough, the one on youtube had just a small closet, so I'm curious.

Wow - I had no idea any of the villas had a laundry room! All of ours (1 and 2 beds) in every location have always had the stackers. Which is fine. I always bring tide pods and do 2-3 loads while we're there, max - it's great to bring home all clean clothes!

@alon86 In the pictures/videos I saw, both the laundry "closet" and the laundry room had the same stackable washer/dryer. One BLT 2 bedroom unit had the laundry closet, and the other 2 bedroom unit had a separate laundry room. The laundry room had the stackable and then had a large area to hang clothes, it had a laundry basket, and the room had a door you could close. It actually looked bigger than my laundry room at home!:P

I loved having the laundry room! I believe these are the inner facing (odd number rooms). This is due to the curvature of the building.

I think if your room is on the outside of the C it has the big laundry closet, the inside gets the small one. It’s all due to space loss due to the curve.

We were in room 7722 - theme park view, smack in the middle on the outside of the curve, and no laundry room, just the stackables in a closet. I'm so curious about this!

If you face magic kingdom and are on the outside curve you have a bigger living area, whereas if your room looks out to the pool/courtyard you have a smaller living area but get the little laundry room because you have more of the curve at the opening of your unit not where the windows are like those facing MK.

That makes perfect sense. So the laundry room would be in lake view rooms (inside of the C), not theme park rooms. But bigger the living area in TP rooms is another reason why I love them!

OP here. Forgive me, I'm so confused! 😂 We have a lake view 2 bedroom BLT booked on cash. Based on recommendations from wonderful folks above, I switched my request from a dedicated 2 bedroom to a high, even numbered room, because folks felt like a dedicated room was a pretty sure thing when booking on cash. @polynor says the odd numbered inner facing rooms have the laundry rooms, but @alon86 says the laundry rooms are in inner lake view rooms. Not having ever stayed at BLT, I'm not sure what numbers the rooms are for inner vs outer rooms? How does the room numbering system/views work for BLT? Is it possible to have a high, even numbered lake view room with a laundry room rather than a laundry closet, or are these things mutually exclusive? In the end, it doesn't really matter. We'll be at WDW, and I'm confident our vacation and wherever we are in BLT will be great. However, I'm really curious about all of these different issues. Any info would be awesome! 😅

@alon86 later post is consistent with my post. the inner set of rooms that face the pool are odd numbered. this is also consistent with @princesscinderella post. note, those on the outer rim, can also have lake views due to their placement (Outer rim rooms are even numbered).
so you can have a high even number lake view. But you won’t get the laundry room, Just the closet.

The lake view rooms that overlook the tennis courts have a partial MK view. Most are accessible I’d still keep my eyes open for BCV rooms though. BLT is fantastic but, Crescent Lake resorts are among our favorites.

I will be honest, we tried Bay Lake Tower for the first time in May. We own DVC at Beach Club and Animal Kingdom. We had 3 nights in a theme park view grand villa In May and then moved to BCV for 8 nights. I thought I was going to fall in love with BLT and need to buy points there. But I didn’t. Granted…there were no fireworks, maybe that would have changed my opinion. I just did not like the aesthetic of the resort. I think the building is ugly. The hallways felt like a college dorm to me. There was nothing that wowed me about the resort. The grand villa was also showing a lot of wear and tear. Most of the furniture was dinged and scuffed up. The two story floor to ceiling windows that over looked MK, many were clouded. The dishwasher was broken and we had to call maintenance only to be told you have to push it very hard to get it to work….well that sounds broken to me. The only thing that we found amazing was the walk to MK. That was a huge benefit. The cast members were also very warm, welcoming and willing to please. I just did not love the feel of the resort at all. But…I know we all have different tastes and opinions. And that is what makes DVC so special. There is a resort for everyone. BCV is our vibe for sure and AKV our second. It feels like Disney and feels like vacation to us.
