Love to hear how WL is perfect for a romantic disneymoon!
Where to request room at? Is concierge worth it? What are some romantic things to do around the resort? Where are the smoking rooms at?

TIA!!! :flower:

I can't adequately speak to the perfect room location, smoking areas/rooms, or the concierge level, but if you're disneymooning, then I think you've chosen a great resort. It is quiet, at least relative to other resorts; it seems isolated with all the trees and serene beauty; and it possesses enough to do to keep you occupied during your stay--as if you would need that on a disneymoon. :)

The architecture is stunning, especially the lobby. You can spend quite a few minutes just exploring and admiring the totem poles, spring, and mercantile. For a nice romantic walk in the evening, there is a nature trail that leads off from the bike shop, and a separate paved (well, cement walk) trail that heads over to the Fort Wilderness campground--about a mile one way. Speaking of the bike shop, you can rent bikes and boats at the WL, both from the same area on the water. There are two pools at WL; the main pool is located behind the grand lobby and close to the Roaring Forks grill. There is a moderate water slide in the main pool, as well as a kiddie pool and two hot tubs--all of them are adjacent to the geyser which erupts every hour from something like 8 a.m. to 10 p.m. If you want a bit more intimacy, try the Hidden Springs pool just around the corner at the Villas. It's much smaller but much less crowded, as well, and it also has a hot tub right next to it that sits back just a bit, allowing a little more privacy.

As for food, in addition to Roaring Forks, both Whispering Canyon, a family sit-down eatery, and Artist Point, an upscale restaurant, are located at WL, both adjacent to the lobby. I'm personally not a fan of WC, having received poor service and dour servers both times my family has eaten there. Nor do I think the food is anything other than passable. You will find many posters, however, who would completely disagree with my assessment. To each his own. For my money, and for sheer romantic ambience, you can't beat AP--it's one of WDW's finest. The menu is a bit adventurous (buffalo, salmon, tuna) while still offering a touch of the norm (pork, beef tenderloin, chicken). The prices are fairly steep, then again, it is an upscale dining experience, not the Hoop De Doo Revue (which BTW is nearby in FW!). Service at AP is exemplary, and if you enjoy wine, their list is one of the best on property.

One final note: MK is a short, enjoyable boat ride away, and the buses run quite well and often at WL to get to the other parks. I highly recommend WL. It's an excellent resort I feel sure you would enjoy.

SleepyDog summed it up very well. I would just add that my sister and her husband loved concierge there. The CMs were extremely nice and helpful and they thought the food offerings were tasty and plentiful. Their room looked out on the central pool area. They had a great time!

SkipperBubba pirate: and I loved our Disneymoon there in November. We found it very relaxing and romantic.
We had a standard view booked, and at check-in we mentioned that it was our honeymoon and got a lovely upgrade to Room 5075. It overlooked the pool and Bay Lake. Simply gorgeous.
Among our activities -- we took out watermice twice, enjoyed the hot tubs, strolled on the beach at night to watch the Electric Water Pageant (passes the WL at 9:35 p.m.), had a lovely meal at Artist Point and treated ourselves to a carriage ride down the road at Fort Wilderness.
Enjoy,

Where are the smoking rooms at?

TIA!!! :flower:[/QUOTE]

The smoking rooms are located on the 6th floor.
I think you chose a great place for a Disneymoon. You'll want to spend your anniversaries there too! I know we do every year! ;)

as much as I love the WL>..which I do... I wouldn't honeymoon there...
it is beautiful, serene but think GF is a better place or even BW..

actually, thinking about it BW is so much better ...they have nightclubs (jellyrolls) and you can walk to Epcot and walk or boat to MGM Studios

think WL lately has abundance of kids. which is great if your parents, but for two adults... definitely reconsider.

BW area has many restaurants, great quiet pool, ESPN Zone, bakery, . and so much more to do than WL has..

but if your heart is set... WL is quite lovely
good luck

If WL was there when we honeymooned in 96, I would have loved to stay there (we stayed at Dixie Landings). It is so beautiful. Our favorite thing to do was to just stroll around the grounds, or sit outside and watch the Electrical water pageant, or watch the geyser, or just take a little cruise on the ferry... I could go on and on. Artist Point looks like a nice place to eat too. Congrats on the upcoming wedding! :flower:

We honeymooned at WL in 1996, and it was wonderful. We usually stay at the moderate resorts, so this was a bit of a splurge for us (although not as much as some of the other deluxes) and we loved every minute of it. It is really a beautiful hotel / resort and I don't think you'll regret staying there at all.

One night we took the bus over to Fort Wilderness to do the Hoop-dee-doo Revue. When we made the reservations we told them it was going to be our honeymoon and we were put in the very front, middle table. It was great! I would suggest always telling them you're on your honeymoon at all the restaurants, you never know what perks you'll get!!

Happy Wedding!

We honeymooned at WL and loved it. We keep going back, now with our kids. Will be there in three weeks. YEAH!!!!! It was very magical! We rode over to the Grand Floridian because we had considered staying there. We were VERY happy with our decision. We found the Grand Floridian to be too frilly for our tastes. That's what is great about Disney, something for everyone. Definetely rent mouseboats, have a frozen drink at the Pool Bar, visit the lobby later in the evening and sit by the fire. As far as a lot a kids being there, there will be especially if school is out, but I think there will be kids at all resorts. We have seen several weddings at the Lodge on each of our stays. Be sure to mention it is your honeymoon to everyone. We got lots of special attention. Make sure your reservation says it is your honeymoon also. We had a bottle of champagne and few little things waiting in our room. (I have been told that they will never guarantee these type things, so don't expect it) . But definetely mention it, you never know what magic you may find.

It was awesome! The castmembers went out of their way to make it special-Especially since the first night they only had rooms with 2 double beds!!!

They moved us the next day - We got champagne & munchies, and an upgraded room.

The grounds are beautiful - Fun to walk around in the evenings, holding hands, watching the boat parade, and the wildlife. (We saw bunnies and squirrels very close, especially at night and early morning.)

We are leaving on Thursday to celebrate our 10th anniversary - This time at the Polynesian.

Can't wait!!!

You will love it!!

If you enjoy relaxing with a nice glass of wine, having people go overboard with kindness and having the little extras then the 7th floor is for you ( concierge )
I love it I will be going back with just my DH in Oct for 1 week .
He loved it also !
