Tell me only GOOD things about Garden Grill ;)

I think Garden Grille has some of the best character interaction if not THE best out of all the character dinings. I think last time DD saw Mickey, Chip and Dale and Goofy at least 3 times each. She LOVED it and they spent a lot of time playing with her.

Since we're on the topic, can anyone tell me how this whole family style thing works? We're a party of 2, so will food be brought to be shared by just us or will we be put with other folks? I'd be cool with sitting with another family, but my friend won't. Just curious to see if I'll be changing my ressie...

i LOVE the atmosphere at this restaurant. at one part of the restaurant you can see the indoor dark part of Living with the Land which is really cool. since the restaurant very slowly rotates, you will get a chance to see this part. the food and characters are great too!

Have gone twice and both were great experiences :thumbsup2:thumbsup2

Servers were great; character interaction was good, unrushed and have returned for second visit; fun it moves with changing scenery; seating was very private from other families.

We thought food was very good for a character meal - very fresh, somehow those have not had the best offerings; great to be waited on; I do not like catfish but it was so good I asked for more; roast beef very good as was the salad, veggies, bread and dessert.

When I go it's just my son and I, we always sit alone, and they just bring proportionate plates for us. Of course we can ask for more of anything.

we are trying GG for first time in December, thanks everyone for sharing especially the pictures. Can't wait.

We've done it twice and loved it both times. Went in 2007 with our family with 3 pre-teen/teen boys and they liked all the food as did we. Chip even got them to get into having fun with him:

We'd met up with another family from the boards there and were amazed that we got a booth that fit 9 and had great service as well.

Middle son and I went back last summer and also met up with another DIS family there and had a great time since they had younger kids with them. Again I thought the food was great - and my 16 year old had no problem finishing off what anyone else wasn't going to eat - including all the extra kids' meal portions!

I agree that it's much quieter than most character meals, plus you don't have to worry about timing your trips to the buffet around the characters - you can just sit and be served! Two thumbs up here! :thumbsup2:thumbsup2

We love Garden Grill & it's a "must do" each trip.

DS3 loves Chip & Dale for one, but the character interactions overall are second to none. As others have said, it's relaxed & enjoyable rather than chaotic and rushed as many other character meals are. The characters come by at least twice during a meal, sometimes 3 times, and they take the time to really interact, play, and make some memories (at other meals I feel like they crouch for a picture with DS & then rush off to the next table, never to be seen again).

We are foodies and we think the food is just fine. I really don't understand the complaints unless they are from people expecting run of the mill buffet food or something like that. Everything on the adult & kids menu has been enjoyable for us all and I've never had a complaint about the food or service.

I read a lot of negativity before we went the first time but we did it anyway so DS could see Chip & Dale. Boy am I glad I did...hope you do too!

GG has great character interaction and service has always been attentive with quick refills of both drinks and food items.

The food is good. Not gourmet--but homey good eats. I never quite "got" why some people didn't like it. :confused3 It's not on our "must do" every trip list but it's on the "places we would eat again" list.:wizard:

This thread has me all excited about our September trip. My youngest absolutely loves Chip N Dale. She named her hamsters after them. Thanks for all the great info.

We had a great meal here! I dont understand the bad reviews, maybe because there are not alot of food choices?

The best character interaction EVER! Chip and Dale were awesome, they showed up several times and were too funny.

The food was plentiful and hot, we didnt get dessert as I had ordered a podium cake for Dd's birthday. She had chicken that she liked, the salad was great. We all were stuffed and very happy afterwards. We would easily go back again to eat here.

I'll echo PP. Food is good, but not great. I am a Hard Core Foodie. The flank steak was QUITE good and the cranberry sauce is to die for. The salad and mixed veggies are also quite tasty. Turkey is standard and stuffing is out-of-a-box. The fish was cooked very well, but was not the type fish I care for (too mild). Dessert was lack luster both times.

BUT it is a very safe place to take picky eaters and meat and potatoes types. Nothing there is bad--at all. Chaacter interaction is loads of fun and not rushed.

Yay for good reviews!

My mom has some knee/hip problems and hates buffets, especially at Disney where she's already doing a ton of walking, so we're trying GG instead of Chef Mickey for our Mickey meal on our next trip with her. Besides, Farmer Mickey just sort of fits for a Flower & Garden trip. :) But I haven't been super excited about it, simply because I have a hard time giving up a World Showcase dinner in favor of a character meal. This thread is doing a lot to change my outlook.

DH and I really enjoy the Garden Grille! :)
We ate there in January and the food was very delicious and we had great service. Being 2 adults (no kids) we were afraid the characters would pass us by with just a wave. Not the case here-we had excellent character interaction and we didn't feel snubbed because there were no kids with us.

We truly love it there and will definitely go again! :cool1:
